To wonder if it is too early for the summer duvet?

I'm so hot right now in my winter duvet! I have been to Zumba this evening but I'm feeling like this even on the days where I don't exercise! Is it unreasonable to get the summer duvet out?! I can't be the only one, surely?

I have to say my granny (if she were alive) wouldn't be party to my duvet choices.

Runwayqueen · 07/05/2014 08:44

Dp switched ours at the beginning on April Hmm but he did put a blanket at the end of the bed for me Smile

MrsKoala · 07/05/2014 08:51

We have summer duvet on all year round then just have a folded bedspread available for pulling over if we get chilly. I actually feel ill at the thought of getting too hot and the mention of bed socks has made me come out in a heat rash Grin

MIL asked what we wanted for xmas, and as we'd got a lovely new bigger bed we said a new duvet. We specifically said a tog count of no more than 7.5. She questioned this and we repeatedly said, we get hot and have a bedspread etc. It came to xmas and we opened the present and it was 15 tog, Confused MIL stood there grinning and said 'i know you said you wanted a lighter one but i thought you must be wrong, so i got the warmest one anyway' Erm thanks. We tried it for one night and couldn't cope at all and now have the most enormous Super King duvet taking up almost an entire wardrobe.

Macocious · 07/05/2014 09:01

We never switched to the winter duvet this winter but our house is abnormally hot..

BrokenToeOuch · 07/05/2014 09:04

Well we only have one duvet Confused
Surely in the summer (ie, those 4 days of sunshine), you just sleep with a sheet?!

goodasitgets · 07/05/2014 09:05

13.5 tog and bed socks for me still Grin

HercShipwright · 07/05/2014 09:15

I would die without a proper weight of duvets on me. Literally die.

We do have the window open practically all year round though. We Like a bit of fresh air. Warm bed, cold room. That's what we like.

pointythings · 07/05/2014 09:17

We've been on summer duvets for about 6 weeks now.

Whereisegg · 07/05/2014 09:21

We only have a summer one, plus both windows open all year round.
Dp has a fluffy blanket Wink

bonkersLFDT20 · 07/05/2014 09:26

I'm still using a hot water bottle Grin

KEGirlOnFire · 07/05/2014 09:27

Hmmm up to you. But I never change to my summer duvet... Blush. Even in the Summer I'm generally not hot enough to change the duvet over, I just throw it off if it's really hot but generally have it back on again by the morning! I am ALWAYS cold.

Davsmum · 07/05/2014 09:38

Why would you ask anyone else if it is OK to put your summer duvet on?

Surely you go on how you feel and what you want to do?

MrsKoala · 07/05/2014 09:38

oh god, you're making me feel all hot and itchy Wink . June/July/Aug we just have a sheet, and we sleep naked too. But no matter how hot i get, i still need a 'cover' of some kind. I couldn't just lay there uncovered. We also don't have windows - just patio doors - and live on the ground floor, so no windows can be left open. Our bedroom is right on the street too. I really miss fresh air.

chickensandbees · 07/05/2014 09:43

I was thinking exactly the same thing in the night. I think it is time to change.

EverythingsDozy · 07/05/2014 09:51

I'm glad I'm not the only one! Yes, my grandma was pulling faces last time I mentioned it. I only mentioned it because I was excited to put the summer duvet on because it meant it was getting warmer!

I do love putting the winter duvet back on though, I love the feeling of the weight back on me. Also, I find it a lot easier to move in the winter duvet because it's so heavy whereas the summer one just moves with me! Grin

And those saying "why ask" etc, I only asked to see who else has their winter duvet on. You know, striking up conversation. Making sure I'm not the only one. Thinking my grandma was wrong. An awful lot of AIBUs don't matter much outside of the person writing them, you didn't have to comment...

Sallyingforth · 07/05/2014 10:02

It depends entirely on what if anything you wear in bed.

Davsmum · 07/05/2014 10:12

EverythingsDozy OK - you were striking up a conversation - but its on 'Am I being unreasonable'
Only a complete fruit loop would say you were being unreasonable to want whatever duvet you wanted on your bed!

I have a light weight duvet on in winter.

EverythingsDozy · 07/05/2014 10:15

Yes okay I know that I misplaced it! I just wanted confirmation that it wasn't weird, which I now know it isn't.
I mainly wrote it because I thought April was a little early myself but then realised it wasn't April any more Confused this thread did remind me to change my calendar too Blush

EverythingsDozy · 07/05/2014 10:16

And davsmum - my grandmother is a complete fruit loop so I guess that explains it!

Davsmum · 07/05/2014 12:06

Ha ha,.. Grandmas feel the cold... :)

MarieNE · 07/05/2014 12:08

A summer duvet? I just have the one and in the summer just use a sheet

QuinionsRainbow · 07/05/2014 12:49

We've been using ours for the past two months.

KatieKaye · 07/05/2014 12:56

Summer Downie been on got 2 weeks now, al

KatieKaye · 07/05/2014 12:58

Whoops!
Window open too.
And this is in Scotkand.
I'm single so sleep alone and do feel the cold, but can't stand waking up bcos I'm too hot.

EverythingsDozy · 07/05/2014 14:45

I won't have my windows open because I hate insects and spiders that decide to come and live in my house with no invitation whatsoever! Rude little buggers!

I need to change my sheets anyway so definitely going to switch to the summer duvet. I'm so excited! My life is not particularly interesting, obviously!!!
