To think "this thread has been deleted at the OP's request to protect privacy" is being overused?

"This thread has been deleted at the OP's request. (We don't normally delete whole threads but we will do so when it is to protect a poster's privacy.)"

Don't get me wrong, I know there are circumstances where there's genuine threat to privacy BUT I've seen some threads where the OP is clearly not happy with the way their thread is going and surprise surprise, it's deleted with the above message.

OP posts:

This thread has been deleted at the OP's request. (We do quite often delete whole threads and here's another twat one that kicked up a fuss. Don't say we didn't warn you :) )

WandaDoff · 03/05/2014 03:55

This thread has been deleted because the OP was being a goady fucker for kicks has got quite a ring to it IMHO Smile

"This thread has been deleted because, as so often happens, it was started by a goady fucker and is littered with troll hunting. HTH"

Time for HQ to be more honest with their messages Grin

I agree. Often see threads on childcare board have this

Nanny or employer has a bitch moan about each other - people offer advice as they do and op doesn't like it

Or they give out details which then hours / day later then give away their identity

Why post in the first place under usual user name - or post knowing that possibly someone will recognize them - ie I look after/have twins of 8mths and 5yr for 3 days a week - and nanny/ mum is doing xyz etc etc which pisses me off

And again suddenly thread will dissapeer and the message about posters privacy appears

Thought an edit button for a min or so would be handy for spelling mistakes etc :)

I was half way through typing a post about my evil mother when I thought better of it and deleted it, however I dropped my phone and managed to press the post button by mistake. So then there was a half written out posy that made no sense at all.
I asked for that to be deleted and it was.

Well when I first joined mn many moons ago I begged mnhq to delete my thread after disclosing very personal info about my family and they refused, I am seeing it more and more now that just cause someone gets a flaming they ask for the thread to be pulled and mnhq do it. I'm sure they just want an easy life.
