Are just doing it for attention?

Even more so when they get comments telling them how beautiful they are and they reply "I'm so not" or some other falsely modest reply.

This is women in their thirties and forties BTW, not teenagers...

A few of my friends do this on FB. I just think its beyond naff to put up loads of selfies, I cringe at the thought of ever doing that. Really Id have thought that would be more a teen thing but it clearly isn't. I do hide posts when it becomes too much some people go way overboard on FB and the minutae of their lives accompanied by posing selfies doesn't really interest me, just as Im sure the finer details of my life wouldn't interest them.

Since I've removed from my friends lists all the ones whose updates and pictures caused me to tut and moan I now smile at them
