To think that Sainsburys will be like Ocado

And totally stop sending me and money off vouchers if I sign up for their delivery pass?

I was a loyal Ocado shopper with a delivery oass. But noticed that, on review, as soon as I got it I wasn't sent anymore money off vouchers at all

So, I didn't bother renewing the pass again and have dumped Ocado. I think they have absolutely no concept of rewarding customer loyalty

I got a free three month Sainsburys' delivery pass and have been using that. Pretty much every week I get a £10 or £15 money off voucher. Plus their substitutions are so much more sensible and I don't get them turning up with absolutely no bread (I refuse to believe that Ocado have no bread in their flippin massive warehouse) and then have to run out with a13 week old and a 16 month old.

I have a voucher for a half price sainsburys' delivery pass. But worried if I take it, I'll end up with no more money off vouchers

I know this is a real first world problem but humour me!

They do send money off vouchers but often for things you wouldn't usually buy. They also knock 10% off certain things, like washing up liquid, and then there's the occasional freebie in your shopping. I wouldn't sign up to be honest.

Pipbin · 25/04/2014 22:30

I guess though that no company is going to keep giving you money off all the time. You could go from one to the other and see who sends you the best offer to come back.

Hoppinggreen · 25/04/2014 22:32

I've discovered that the best way of getting money off vouchers is to not use a company for a bit, they than get increasingly desperate and offer you all sorts.
I almost expect Johnny Boden to turn up on my doorstep himself at any point!!
I use Ocado and am getting offers from Sainsburys, in a month or so I will start using Sainsburys again and the offers from Ocado should start arriving in my inbox!

HaroldLloyd · 25/04/2014 22:32

I never get money off vouchers! Is this why? Bastards.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 25/04/2014 22:34

hopping - agree! I might just go betwixt and between. Pre Ocado pass, I just picked the late night slots and got them for free or 99p or whatever

I think that sainsburys gave free deliveries fir over £80 midweek so could just do that

I only buy things from Johnny B when they are heavily discounted. Sainsburys keep sending me vouchers Confused

Do you have a smart pass, Harold?

Pipbin · 25/04/2014 23:21

I have a smart pass and love it.
I could cancel and go elsewhere to get a voucher from ocado but I can't be bothered.

arethereanyleftatall · 25/04/2014 23:30

I am so proud of myself and shopping vouchers....for years I only ever shop if the store has given me voucher, decent ones. If no voucher, I don't shop there, or at first, pretended I didn't by not using club card. Now, for the past 6 months, Sainsbury have sent me 12 off 40 shop every week. They missed a month and I didn't shop there once. I've won, I'm so proud.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 25/04/2014 23:33

I didn't take any notice of the half price pass, then they sent me a free pass for 3 months Smile

Garcia10 · 26/04/2014 00:02

Best thing about Ocado is the free bottle of champagne after 5 shops. I'm saving it for when Liverpool when the league. Hopefully in a couple of weeks otherwise it could be years...

HaroldLloyd · 26/04/2014 00:22

Yes I had the old 2.99 one which they have only just put up. But I do use it a lot.

LadyMaryLikesCake · 26/04/2014 03:03

Champagne? Shock

How do you stop supermarkets sending you vouchers with decent amounts off, but to get the offer you have to spend way more than you would normally?

Our local Waitrose are doing a thing now for new customers where you get a £5 discount the first time you shop, £10 the second time, and so on til you get £25 off the fifth time. Quite clever of them I suppose but you have to spend £75 each time and all shops completed by 10 June. With DCs away at uni, there is no way DH and I would spend £75 each week, just for the two of us. Once or twice maybe, but not every week. And I haven't got the freezer space to store a lot Similarly, Tesco keep sending me vouchers for money off, but I need to spend £90.

I guess they only want the big spenders, but why can't they make it a percentage of the shop? I am ignoring Tesco at the moment til they send me an acceptable offer!

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 26/04/2014 03:58

I've done a million shops with Ocado and that bloody delivery pass and never got a free bottle of champagne Envy.

Yes - think the thing to do is to commit to no one!

nadia - pretty much every week I get a voucher for sainsbo's and it's for money off a £50 shop

Have stopped using waitrose as they never send any online vouchers. And their website is awful

How do you get that from Sainsbury's Gobbolino? Do you think it's just cos you're a regular customer? But then if they think they've got you, you'd imagine they would stop sending you vouchers? Because they'd think they didn't need to? I don't get it!

They never send me anything. I think they just don't like me Sad

BishB · 26/04/2014 07:52

I've got an Ocado smart pass. I do a shop every 1.5 weeks and always get money off vouchers (off total shop so not dependent on what items I buy) each time. No champagne though!

Artandco · 26/04/2014 07:56

I have an ocado pass. They gave it to me for free after they forgot to deliver once. It's a lifetime free delivery :) ( if they still exist then!)

I also get vouchers sent, smart pass and free champagne

Love ocado!

Kveta · 26/04/2014 08:00

I have never ever had a voucher from sainsburys! And that's even with me sometimes not using them for a month or two. How bizarre! I still shop with them though, as they are the only reliable delivery supermarket here - tesco are just plain rude, and ocado were so bad they smashed eggs, burst milk, squashed all the fruit, and then wouldn't refund any of the damaged goods, so I refuse to use them again.

I don't even get those! What bastards. I am feeling very neglected now!

Pipbin · 26/04/2014 10:49

I've just got one from ocado saying £5 off £70 but my weekly shop is £40.
What was best was a couple of years ago when they had to cancel a delivery and have me £50 to say sorry. Then they had to cancel the rebooked delivery and gave me £75 to say sorry!
You get free wine or chocolate on your anniversery with them too.
Also, I do lots of reviews and they have put me on their review board so I get free stuff each month to review.

What I like best about ocado is that the products come from a warehouse rather than the supermarket. When I shopped with Sainsbury's I got the feeling that the gave you the boxes that wouldn't sell because they were tatty.

HaroldLloyd · 26/04/2014 10:51

I can't really fault ocado, they gave me a free tea towel and baby pasta this week.

HaroldLloyd · 26/04/2014 10:51

I might email them and ask for a voucher.

DomesticSlobbess · 26/04/2014 12:24

I never got Sainsbury's vouchers despite shopping with them every week for two years. I've had a delivery pass since Christmas, and NOW I get vouchers, but only after not shopping with for three weeks. Now I get £10 off when I spend £80.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 26/04/2014 19:59

This is so interesting! I was a smart pass customer and spent about £150 a week. No vouchers. Crap bottle if wine in anniversary.

Sainsburys either email vouchers or I get them in the post. We live somewhere with a lot of competition so wonder if that impacts things?

I had terrible substitutions from ocado, squashed fruit and numerous times they turned up saying they had no bread. What, literally no bread in the whole warehouse?

Plus the drivers would often make it very clear that carrying the shopping in was a major inconvenience.

Sainsbo's delivery driver very nice, substitutions are thoughtful, shopping carefully packed and longer use by dates than ocado
