Why?

I agree with melonade. It's a poorly chosen shot.

doziedoozie · 21/04/2014 19:13

it's not actual porn, no beaver shots etc yeah, well there were no beaver shots on the Wolf from Wall Street (it being an American film an all) but that was pretty porny.

It's alright then to use sexy girls to make a boring article interesting, Hmm, so we can assume wall to wall suspenders on the business pages now, and few more scantily clad females on the Auto pages, ditto the international news (if the pics of dismembered bodies are thin on the ground that day).

Brilliant.

RufusTheReindeer · 21/04/2014 19:18

Not sure where anyone said that it was a good idea or alright to use that photo

Could be wrong though as I can't be arsed to reread

doziedoozie · 21/04/2014 19:22

Well there was one.

*I was going to say I barely noticed but perhaps hardly would be a better choice of word! smile

In any event, I noticed nothing untoward.*

MelonadeAgain · 21/04/2014 19:26

Canthisone I think it's trying to depict the ingenious nature of the st trinians school and link it to this initiative

I think that's a poorly thought out excuse trying to depict a personal perversion as a choice for the masses.

Andrewofgg · 21/04/2014 19:27

No, I said I saw nothing untoward - which means pornographic, that being what OP said - not that it was a good idea to use the photo. Was it all right to use it? Only in the sense that it was not illegal. If I were the editor of the Indie I would not have used it.

Canthisonebeused · 21/04/2014 21:07

It's not an excuses just an observation.

RoseRadish · 23/04/2014 09:54

Erm doozie, Bertha's post was not defending the pic at all or saying it was alright - the opposite in fact.

Gurnie · 23/04/2014 10:01

Have read most of the thread. Why do you think they used that picture then? It is really odd!

RoseRadish · 23/04/2014 10:11

I think they used it because a) they didn't have a pic of the relevant thing (solar panels on a school), couldn't be arsed to get one, or thought it would be too boring. And b) whoever was in charge was probably male, with male readers in mind, and an unreconstructed perv, and thought "I know... everyone likes to look at schoolgirls in suspenders... that's about school... easily available from stock... that'll do!"

Nocomet · 23/04/2014 10:37

Actually if you know the film, you'd remember it was about stealing a painting to stop the school going broke. Very tenuous link with solar panels making school money.
