I have lost count of the threads that have:

hubby
preggo or preggers (except preggers and pen cuz Grin]
hun
mummy
daddy
poor grammar (I done it or I was)

I have never been on NM. So AIBU?

OP posts:
thecatfromjapan · 20/04/2014 17:12

I think I prefer people calling their mothers and fathers "mummy" and "daddy" rather than the strange "mom" think that I see encroaching on mn. fine if you are American but aaaaaagggghhhh! if you're not!

thecatfromjapan · 20/04/2014 17:14

Should be: "... I prefer ... to ..." or "rather than ..."

Sorry.

thecatfromjapan · 20/04/2014 17:15

I really don't like "Mom".

RabbitPies · 20/04/2014 17:16

At least we don't have tickers.

crazynanna · 20/04/2014 17:17

I was a Hun until a lifetime ban

Interestingly, in one of my Social Policy Uni lectures recently, on a slide was a bullet point "Coalition - 'The Big Society' -social media used for this eg. Mumsnet"

Shock

I told him Cameron was on Huns...not 'ere mate Wink

OwlCapone · 20/04/2014 17:18

If it's not a statement, what are you asking AIBU about?

Vintagebeads · 20/04/2014 17:24

Seriously who gives a shit I wonder do those on NM give a shit about here unlikely the superiority complex of some MN'ers is way more annoying hun Wink

JugglingFromHereToThere · 20/04/2014 17:24

Ooh, a lifetime ban from NM crazynanna

Actually I've been wondering if I can get myself a ban from the Bounty website by criticizing formula feeding (I've heard that's not allowed on there)

I think it could be an interesting addition to the Bounty Mutiny campaign

Anyone care to join me in the enterprise?!

crazynanna · 20/04/2014 17:26

Yes I got a ban for frothing at racist, disablist bigotted twats.

Well worth a ban

I was on there for a couple of months whilst pregnant. Couldn't understand a lot of the posts due to text speak. A thread was started on there by someone slagging off MN so I came here for a look and never looked back Smile. Can't believe I never come across this first Sad.

candycoatedwaterdrops · 20/04/2014 17:37

"poor grammar (I done it or I was)"

I wish grammar whingers especially those who posted in a quite casual way themselves Wink would do one. Great way to make those who have learning difficulties and/or missed out on a good education feel like shit!

adoptmama · 20/04/2014 17:38

Hun in Glasgow has such a different meaning :)

Its normal usage presages a glassing or, at the very least, some 'friendly banter'......

cantbelievethisishppening · 20/04/2014 17:39

Poor grammar??? Get over yourself Hmm

MrsRTea · 20/04/2014 17:45

Love the idea of correcting a lecturer. "No. Cameron is on NetMums. Not Mumsnet. Get it right."

Mind you, it would have been even more pleasing if the lecturer had responded "Oh, do fuck off, dear. Did you mean to be so rude?"

thecatfromjapan · 20/04/2014 17:46

usualsuspect Is it a West Midlands thing????? I'm from the West Midlands.

When did the "Mom"-ification of the West Midlands occur?

And don't try telling me it's traditional because I read George Eliot at school and there is a distinct lack of "Mom" when she's doing her (slightly annoying) 'authentic peasant dialect' thing.

BasketzatDawn · 20/04/2014 18:05

I've never really used NM either. I know you are BU though.Easter Grin

BasketzatDawn · 20/04/2014 18:07

I take it this is another of those light-hearted threads? MN is full of them, NM too for all I know.Easter Wink BTW has anyone ever seen a rabbit wink?or smile? Easter Grin

crazynanna · 20/04/2014 18:22

Grin MrsRTea

When I corrected him, he just did the "EEK!" face, and wrote furiously on his notes. I bet the slides change for next year's lecture Wink

He then made things worse by saying "parenting sites are where you ask 'my baby has green pooh..is it normal?'"

I obviously corrected him in a friendly. condusive manner Smile

fisherpricephone · 20/04/2014 18:23

{{Hugs}} LOL Easter Smile It's OK Hun, I'm sure you loves us really.

Urgh,

Fuck shit wank bugger. Ah, that feels better. Think I'll eat the kids' chocolate a Biscuit

Mom is a midlands thing. They can't help it. Neither northern or southern, so confused.

thecatfromjapan · 20/04/2014 19:18

Not North, not South: Midlands. It's its own kind of special. And a very special kind of special at that. Not confused. I'll mind you that the Revered Bard of these Sceptr'd Isles is from the Midlands. So less of this implication that we're ditzy, directionless folk with a poor command of the language.

(All of the above is to be taken with a pinch of salt. I know that the prevailing winds of mn these days can be a little hostile to "pinch of salt" posts. So I'm flagging that up now, so that everything stays friendly. Friendly is nice. Friendly is Easter Egg. Oh yes.)
