to want to give this family the money?

Dp and I are away. There is a mum staying in the guest house with her two boys. We haven't talked apart from exchanging hellos in the breakfast room. The mother is single and works three jobs to provide for her family but barely is able to cover the bills. I know this as she was talking to another mum and dad staying.

Now this afternoon the mum and her boys were sat in the lounge and the boys were asking if they can take a trip on the boat. It just goes out in the sea for half hour for 2 each. The mum said that they only had enough spends left for dinner and the train home so they couldn't. She got her purse out to see if she had any extra but she didn't. The boys accepted this but the look of disappointment on the little ones face was so sad.

So i would like to just give the mum the money to take her kids out. It's only 6 and we have holiday money left so won't miss it. Besides, we are leaving later so we don't need it. I just remember when i was little and my mum didn't have money to do things like that.

Yep - this made me blub. Well done OP - lovely kind gesture.

FTRsGotAShinyNewNN · 17/04/2014 18:47

OP to most of us £6 is nothing, a handful of loose change. I've been in the situation of always saying no to my DS because the £6 in my purse was food for a few days.
Your selfless actions will help make that holiday a happy memory for those children for a very long time.
Wine And Thanks for you for being so lovely Smile

Newly single mum here. (found out DH cheated AND lost my health care job on the same day)
Decided to take the children to a car boot to keep busy. DS was breaking his heart as I had no money left, when a man very kindley gave DS a football. I was so weepy and touched I gave the man a funny sort of handshake/bear hug type scenario that left both of us a bit Blush .

Kyz · 17/04/2014 22:08

This is so lovely Smile Thanks

I'll never forget when I was completely broke in a shop and my DD had been as good as gold and she wanted some sweets, I explained to her I had no spare money and she just said ok, the lady infront of us dropped a £1 coin and my DD picked it up and gave her it back and she said you can keep it for being so honest. It made my day and I know she did it on purpose. It will stay with me forever and the smile on DD's face Smile
