Will have to be vague in places so as not to out myself.

My son is being baptised on Easter Sunday. There will be about 30 people attending

We have hired a small hall for a gathering afterwards and booked someone to cater back in Feb (they were to do a buffet)

They have bloody pulled out today!!!!

Now (here is the vague part) I know for certain it is not a family emergency/death which has caused cancellation but a disagreement with someone connected to the hall (not us!).

So, I now have 30 people to feed and to top it off I'm short of time and not a great cook

I'm fuming and in a panic!

That's disgusting but can they recommend someone else??

My friend had to find a whole new venue and catering the day before her dd's christening as environmental health shut the first place down due to a flood in the kitchen that dated the floor but they recommended a few different places and helped her get it moved.

Talk to morrisons if there ignore local, they do party platters etc if you are lucky they may be able to do it for you

Sorry to wgat this. The sainsburys platter service is excellent. The food is good quality, it's attractively presented and it's reasonably priced. We used it to cater for my dads 70th for about 30 people, excluding puddings which we made and bought separately (though supplemented with their fruit platters). Hth

Waitrose and M&S do platters too. You will be fine. Not seen the sainsburys ones will have to take a look myself

OP both you and your caterer have my sympathy, hall committees can be utterly awful to deal with.

Also agree with sainsburies platter suggestion if there is enough time.

Hmm good point sainsburies will closed Sunday so you would have to pick on the Saturday not sure how well day old sandwich's would fair. Are you on facebook? Put out a plea for help on local community pages/selling pages I've seen lots of local business's step up and help at short notice on ours.

I have never used them (a friend has, tho' for a meeting) but Subway do platters, too. Also, most supermarkets do party nibbles that can be cooked at the same temp, so long as you have access to an oven and someone to pop them in/take them out.

Catered the buffet at our wedding with Waitrose platters. Got loads of compliments on "the catering". Highly recommend.

Had sains platters but wouldn't say they'd be great the day after....

Failing that change the venue to a pub?

If the platters won't work out, or are too pricey then could you contact all coming, explain the situation and ask them to bring something.

WRT day old sandwiches, Mary Berry served day old sangers on the TV the other day. She just covered them in cling film.

oh and put them in the fridge.

Another recommendation here for Costco. I have bought the tray of wraps before and they will keep fine overnight.

a lot of Indian takeaways will do buffet platters too, eg 50 piece pakora, vat of Korma, samosas etc with about 24 hours notice
