To be fuming and in a panic?

Will have to be vague in places so as not to out myself.

My son is being baptised on Easter Sunday. There will be about 30 people attending

We have hired a small hall for a gathering afterwards and booked someone to cater back in Feb (they were to do a buffet)

They have bloody pulled out today!!!! Angry

Now (here is the vague part) I know for certain it is not a family emergency/death which has caused cancellation but a disagreement with someone connected to the hall (not us!).

So, I now have 30 people to feed and to top it off I'm short of time and not a great cook Sad

I'm fuming and in a panic!

Put some damp kitchen roll over sarnies, wrap in cling film and the next day they'll be fine.

I knew a flight attendant who did this as apparently at high altitudes they dried out quick. It worked for her!

As supermarket sandwiches can have 2-3 day shelf life, I'd go for the platters and cling film them and keep on fridge, should be ok

Janethegirl · 15/04/2014 06:07

In not on

littlewhitebag · 15/04/2014 06:32

I had M&S platters for my 50th birthday party. I ordered them on line then collected them. They were lovely and I am sure they would have kept until the following day.

Easter Sunday !! Yes!

Oriunda · 15/04/2014 07:33

We ordered waitrose platters for DS' birthday. Delivered night before and into fridge. All fine.

MaryWestmacott · 15/04/2014 07:34

Yep, Easter Sunday and Christmas Day, 2 days a year you can't shop.

Op, for ds's christening we got waitrose platters delivered the afternoon before, they were fine.

HairHelp · 15/04/2014 07:35

Subway platters are very good and you can pad it out with your own food?

ChristopherRobin · 15/04/2014 07:35

We used costco platters for DDs christening a few weeks ago. Picked them up the afternoon before. We were really happy with them.

Another costco fan here. Got all food for DS christening & his cake there. Fed about 80 people.

Tinkerball · 15/04/2014 07:44

I would go with everyone's suggestion of platters , and add extra that wouldn't take up too much time eg bowls of salad, coleslaw, pasta salad etc.

Was also going to say Costco. Definitely plenty there.

DraggingDownDownDown · 15/04/2014 07:51

For my friends christening, we went to the hall in the morning and set up the slow cookers with chilli, bolognase and sausage casserole.

I put 40 baked potatoes in the oven to cook whilst I was at the christening and then collected them on route to the hall.

Big baguettes chopped up. Bowls of salad. Kids had individual bags made up with a picnic lunch in and mini colouring set.

zebrafinch · 15/04/2014 07:51

Waitrose do free glass hire. You do not need to buy anything together this

zebrafinch · 15/04/2014 07:52

To get this
They can deliver glasses to your door if I remember correctly

zebrafinch · 15/04/2014 07:53

Good idea to ask the bakers in the family to bake a cake and bring it.

mummytowillow · 15/04/2014 07:59

M&S do lovely buffet food, you'll need to order asap though as most of it takes 5 days.

Ploppy16 · 15/04/2014 08:03

Another Costco recommendation here, the only one I know of near Manchester is somewhere around Oldham I think.
Either that or you could explain to your guests amd ask them to bring a dish?

itiswhatitiswhatitis · 15/04/2014 10:57

If you get really desperate Iceland do a frozen sandwich platter

t3rr3gl35 · 15/04/2014 11:33

Costco is your friend. Smile Hope all ends up well. Above all else, enjoy the day.
