I have two sons (6 & 4) who both have willies (as you would expect), now I also have dd (8 weeks) and I don't know what to call her bits. Obviously I have explained the proper names to the boys when they asked, in the same way they know that the proper name for their willy is penis, but I would prefer a friendlier term to use day to day!
Am I being crazy?
DH and I have had a conversation about it but cannot agree Smile.

I tend to just say genitals for the lot. If I have to be specific then I'll use the word for whatever is being talked about. vulva, penis, etc.

I find it easier for me if I am totally matter of fact about it. I do have the potential to be a bit embarrassed by all things down there Grin- my mother would talk in hushed tones about "front bottom" and when I started my periods I was hysterical because I thought I was bleeding to death! So I made a conscious decision to be different. I really didn't want to go down the willy, winky, wee wee, pee pee, foo foo route.

MrsRogerSterling · 11/04/2014 10:53

We have front bottoms in this house, it started with dd1 and has continued with dd2.

HecatePropylaea · 11/04/2014 10:54

oh. ha. That's an unfortunate x post, Mrs R. sorry about that. Grin

2 daughters? you're not my mother, are you? Wink

MrsRogerSterling · 11/04/2014 11:04

Well unless you are sat in my front room watching Sofia the First and mn'ing at the same time Hecate then probably not Grin

icanmakeyouicecream · 11/04/2014 11:11

Front bottom

HighwayRat · 11/04/2014 11:15

Vagina, dd is aware it is vulva/vagina but we go with vagina for ease. She is aware though that girls have 2 different holes, a baby hole and a wee hole. She had a very interesting conversation with a pregnant lady about howher baby was going to come out of her middle hole Grin

SlimJiminy · 11/04/2014 11:47

Friend's DD calls hers her loobyloo. I'd never heard it called that before but knew exactly what she meant when she referred to her loobyloo. Friend didn't tell her to - she either picked it up from GPs or made it up herself. Makes me chuckle. I always used 'fanny' as a kid, but that word sounds so crude nowadays. Couldn't bring myself to use it now.

Nancy66 · 11/04/2014 11:49

'flower' makes me retch

pinkdelight · 11/04/2014 11:54

Front bottoms here too. So to speak.

Defnotsupergirl · 11/04/2014 12:08

Nu-nu.

This was from Gran, stood her in good stead, she had 13 children.

Actually I can remember just before she died she was in fits of laughter watching the telly. Tears in her eyes. She was watching athletics and there was a Russian athlete called Nunu something on. She found this hysterical. 89 years old - the memory still makes me smile!

Joysmum · 11/04/2014 13:03

As a youngster, it was a 'mini or 'bits'.

ffluffy · 11/04/2014 13:06

Top 13 Grin

DesperatelySeekingSedatives · 11/04/2014 13:10

DD (6) calls it her cootchie and sometimes her woo.

diddl · 11/04/2014 13:17

We all had willies when the kids were young!Grin

Allofaflumble · 11/04/2014 13:18

Minikin.

iliketea · 11/04/2014 13:36

Foofy. Or the little crease (as opposed to her bum, which is the big crease). Dh started the "little crease, big crease" when he was drying her after a bath one day when she was little and talking to her about what he was doing.

She's 4, there is plenty of time to learn the right words. And I'm not embarrassed, I just think "vulva / vagina" is more clinical.

FourArms · 11/04/2014 14:02

Foofoo here, although as a child it was a tuppence?!?!

DS's have winkies (as we have a Will in the family who is often called Willy Will).

When DS1 was potty training I'd say 'tell winky to do a weewee'. When we shuffle him to the loo half-asleep for a night time wee he still says it quietly. :)

meddie · 11/04/2014 14:04

Dd named hers her sSugar puff because it looks like one...

typedup · 11/04/2014 14:49

Vulva, clitoris, vagina as appropriate. It's quite simple really Smile

meddie · 11/04/2014 15:53

I understand the rationale for using the correct terms re safeguarding. But why is this only applied to genitals. IRL most people use common names like tummy rather than abdomen etc and never heard anyone complaining they trapped their metacarpal in a door

Nancy66 · 11/04/2014 15:56

I am fine with fanny - it goes with willy.

if you use vagina then you have to use penis. fair's fair.

BolshierAyraStark · 11/04/2014 16:03

Tuppence & tail in this house, sure I'll introduce the correct terms at some point though tbh I call mine a fanjo-would never say vagina in an everyday conversation (not that I refer to it on a daily basis you understand)
