so it might sound a little ott.. however dd has scarlet fever about 2 weeks ago and has been on a strong course of antibiotics.
About 2 days ago i noticed a little fluid filled blister come up on her back which i thought was a bite, tonight she has about 5 small fluid filled blisters on her back and stomach and the one from a few days ago is bigger and seems to have dried up.
Dd seems well, no temp or other symptoms but what are the blisters?

Chicken pox?

I'd see the nurse or health visitor rather than GP though.

Fresh01 · 09/04/2014 19:46

Has she been in contact with anyone with chicken pox in the last 3 weeks?

MrsRogerSterling · 09/04/2014 19:47

Sounds like chicken pox which my dd2 currently has!

Sounds like chicken pox. Tomorrow there will probably be 50 small red spots.

Bardette · 09/04/2014 20:09

Does sound like chicken pox - you'll know in the morning! Or it could be a post viral rash maybe.

BeaWheesht · 09/04/2014 20:13

Sounds like chickenpox.

Are you worried about it being an allergy? When ds had an allergy to penicillin he got massive blisters all over his torso joining together.

Could you pop to a pharmacy where you can park outside and ask them to have a look at her in the car / wait until nobody is there?

ditsydoll · 09/04/2014 20:14

Ugh.. the first 'blister' appeared about 2-3 days ago though? Would she not be covered in them/be poorly by now?

Molluscm? She should really be feeling ill with chicken pox it would be quite rare not to I think.

StarGazeyPond · 09/04/2014 20:15

My son didn't have loads of spots and wasn't particularly unwell either with chickenpox!

FederationPresidentBarryFife · 09/04/2014 20:17

Mine felt quite well with Chic pox just COVERED in spots.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 09/04/2014 20:18

DS got one spot the first day, 4 the second, 10 the third and about 100 on the fourth. He wasn't noticeably poorly with it. So long as she seems well, wait until tomorrow, then you'll be sure.

LetTheRiverAnswer · 09/04/2014 20:24

We've just been through chicken pox. Both had lots of spots, were under the weather and tired but not much more than that. The baby had a bit of a temp but wasn't itchy, ds was itchy but didn't get a temp. Nothing like as bad as I expected. I think the spots came up quicker than op describes though. Could it be a mild case maybe? I didn't go to the doc with it, but did check with pharmacist that it looked like chicken pox.

ditsydoll · 09/04/2014 20:31

Dd has been exposed to cp loads of times and never picked it up (she's 5)
I would have thought she would be poorly with it or at least have a few more spots. She did say they where itchy though..

My dd was cmpletely well when she had cp. I hear lots of children are.

SimplyRedHead · 09/04/2014 20:55

My DD only had about 8 spots in total with CP and wasn't that ill.

earlymidlifecrisis · 09/04/2014 21:06

I could have written your post OP! DD has about a dozen spots, some more blistery looking than others. We're off to Disneyland Paris at the weekend! Am hoping that she's not pickled tomorrow morning...

TheEmpress · 09/04/2014 21:09

I would double check it and not assume. It could be a post viral rash, chicken pox, molluscum or anything else.

ditsydoll · 09/04/2014 21:16

I suppose I will know more in the morning if she's covered in spots or even how the ones she has have changed.
Maybe she's just going to get a really mild case, or it's just not at the worst of it yet.
Thanks for your replies everyone.

My Ds has just had chicken pox. Was exactly like you describe. He started off with one and a couple of days later got about 5 more.

He was fine once he had the spots but was poorly the week before. Temperature and sleepy.

BeaWheesht · 09/04/2014 21:27

Ds had 2 spots for 3 days then steadily got covered in spots until he has hundreds and hundreds. Wasn't especially ill, slight fever but didnt suffer with it and happily enjoyed some time off school!

Dd on the other hand was covered immediately and miserable but she was only a baby...

ilovepowerhoop · 09/04/2014 21:28

doesnt sound at all like molluscum. More likely to be chicken pox

LetTheRiverAnswer · 09/04/2014 21:28

My five year old had been exposed to cp lots of times before without getting it. Ds2 still hasn't had it, despite ds1 and ds3 having it- from what id read I thought it was so contagious you'd get it by looking at someone with cp!

Misspixietrix · 09/04/2014 22:55

Dd was perfectly well with cp - only ever got a handful on her torso nowhere else. If it wasn't for school mum texting to let me know her Dd in the same class had been sent home with it it'd have never crossed my mind. Ds however (5) has had it twice already! [shocked] really ill and off with it the first time round not eating drinking temp etc and absolutely peppered in them. He had what I thought was a really bad eczema breakout last year and when took him to the GPs was told he had chicken pox. Me "but he's already had it". GPs "yes and he's got it again" Blush They were right. It was going round the nursery again and he got put on some magic antivirals that were an absolute swine to find!
