To dress my baby in babygros?

My DD is 4 months old and I still dress her almost exclusively in babygros, day and night. She has some other little outfits like t shirts and leggings, dresses and tights etc, which she wears occasionally.

I just prefer her to wear comfy clothes, plus she looks so cute in them!

I was having coffee with some other mums with baby's who are 4 and 6 months and they were talking about how they hate to see babies over 4 months or so in babygros during the day. They said 'they're not baby babies any more' and it looks weird and like they're wearing pyjamas.

I'm not offended or anything, just want to know if I'm the weird one!

I'm not sure why thinking babygros are more comfy and convenient would make anyone "twee" Hmm

IdaClair · 08/04/2014 16:21

Given that we all wear clothes, lie down sometimes, sit up sometimes and move around sometimes, I think we've a fair idea.

Odaat · 08/04/2014 16:22

I adore babygrows. With my dd we had so many clothes given to us I wanted to get the wear out of them, so wasn't in babygrows much. She I have more i doubt very much people will buy as much as not a PFB ! Which is fine by me :)

DomesticSlobbess · 08/04/2014 16:47

DS was in babygrows up until at least 6 months, probably longer. Occasionally he'd be in a pair of joggers but babygrows were much easier to pop open when he needed changing. Plus he was tiny, but long, so trousers were always fine on the length but absolutely huge around the waist. Babygrows solved this problem!

Ida Nah, I know. I was being facetious! Grin

Tessdurbevilliespoon · 08/04/2014 17:05

Confused Grown men and women can wear a babygrow out in public, as if it were normal, but a 5 month old baby can't? The world has gone mad!

thedrunkenduck · 08/04/2014 17:13

Personally- I wouldn't go out in my pyjamas, so I don't see why my child should.

passmethewineplease · 08/04/2014 17:28

YANBU, DS is always in them, we only dress him in proper clothes occasionally and even then it's nothing fancy just joggers and a top plus cardigan. I love my knitted cardigans. :)

I can't stand seeing newborns in shirts and baby girls in massive dresses with tutus attached.

Ploppy16 · 08/04/2014 17:41

Mine wore clothes during the day and sleepsuits at night but everybody puts their own children in what they want to and nobody has the right to judge that. I do love seeing small ones in sleepsuits and hand knitted cardigans though Smile
and whats up with a tutu? DD2 wore one as part of her christmas outfit, she looked lovely bum shuffling round the room like a black sparkly mop!!

tznett · 08/04/2014 18:32

A 4-month-old will be a baby for a while longer yet! Surely the main thing is that the baby is comfortable, rather than having to keep up appearances at that age?!

Bunbaker · 08/04/2014 18:35

DD wore babygros or similar until she was about 8 or 9 months. They are extremely practical. Besides, she had medical problems that meant that we were virtually housebound for the first year, so it didn't matter what she wore.

ArtFine · 08/04/2014 18:42

DD was in babygrows until 9 months and now it's a nightmare to get them on her!

RedandChecker · 08/04/2014 18:43

YANBU I look back at DS baby photos in outfits like jeans and tshirts, trainers etc and he looks so uncomfortable! Sad I will keep my next baby a baby as long as possible and as comfy as possible! Of course baby gros are comfy! I have one for myself when no one else is around it is the comfiest thing I own! Grin

Bunbaker · 08/04/2014 18:45

I think small babies look ridiculous and uncomfortable in mini adult outfits. And they are so impractical.

Theo2005 · 08/04/2014 18:50

I love babies in baby gro's my little one is 10months and regularly wears baby gro's he looks so cute in them and more importantly comfortable.

Your baby your rules, they are only babies once.

BurnThisDiscoDown · 08/04/2014 18:51

DS (2.8) still wears them for bed most of the time, and occasionally during the day if we're not going out. Love little babies in baby grows, they look all cute and snuggly (not broody, oh no, not at all!).

BornFreeButinChains · 08/04/2014 18:52

I adore baby grows of course 4 months over is not baby any more!

I say Baby until at least two.

Fusedog · 08/04/2014 19:03

Ha my baby's 17 months I put her in a clean one when I went to my mates lol

paxtecum · 08/04/2014 21:06

Babies dressed in shirts and jeans look like little old men IMO, especially if they are bald and gummy.
Same baby in a babygrow looks beautiful and cute.

NurseyWursey · 08/04/2014 21:15

Too many people want to dress their babies as adults... enjoy the phase of buying cute little teddy gros and 'cute' stuff

starlight1234 · 08/04/2014 21:29

YANBU....
Your baby dress them how you want...

They are still tiny and mostly sleeping, and still are where you left them when you put them down

BonaDea · 08/04/2014 21:31

Yanbu. I hate hate hate babies in outfits. Hate it.

DS was in baby gros and rompers almost exclusively to 6 months. Now soft cotton trousers and long sleeved vests. He has one pair of jeans and i don't like those either for the same reason. He's now 12 months.

Roseandmabelshouse · 08/04/2014 21:33

I hate babies in clothes. I have only bought baby gros fit the first months

starfishmummy · 08/04/2014 21:51

DS was small (still is) and wore them for years obviously as pjs as he got older.
And arent onesies just big babyros anyway??
