to be fuming at my neighbour?

We have new neighbours and a shared drive. They usually park on the road because it's difficult to get in and out. For the last 2 years the house next door has been empty and we've got used to having the drive to ourselves.

Last night NDN parked on the drive blocking my car in.

Then he knocked on the door, asked me if I needed to get out, could he leave it there overnight and told me to knock on if I needed to get out any sooner.

Inconsiderate bastard. I could have FROTHED and FUMMED and had a 1000 post rant and he had to ruin it by being polite and bloody reasonable.

Can he park on the drive and not block you in? Or is there just room for one car.

hmm , at least he had the decency to come over and ask . Surely neither of you can park on a shared drive if it denies the other access ?

DejaVuAllOverAgain · 07/04/2014 12:23

I think the OP is "annoyed" because the neighbour is depriving her of a potential 1000 post thread by being reasonable Grin

Did you forget to stick [lighthearted] in the title OP?

HoneyDragon · 07/04/2014 12:23

Coil

The ops upset that the ndn has deprived her of a perfectly good frothy AIBU.

TeenageMutantNinjaTurtle · 07/04/2014 12:24

Folks, I think that's the point. OP is cross because he was so nice about it and now she can't have a full on mumsnet parking thread.

Inconsiderate indeed!

HoneyDragon · 07/04/2014 12:24

Although the is a cracking example of what happens when you speed read the AIBU query in a desperate bid to be the first one to have a pop at the op Grin

SouthernComforts · 07/04/2014 12:26

Guess I should have put lighthearted in the title! I'm not angry atall, I'm pleasantly surprised after reading all the awful neighbour/parking threads on here.

The drive is a PITA. It would be pretty much impossible for us all to park without blocking eachother and we live on a busy fast road so very hard to reverse out.

They are going to stick to parking on the road and using the front door, we park on our bit of the drive and use the back.

I'm going to soft play soon. I bet all the children frolick happily in the age appropriate area and then I'll have nothing to MN about Sad. Selfish.

I think op explained in the last paragraph that she COULD have frothed and fumed and started a thread about how U he is, BUT... he went and ruined it by being R and polite.

DejaVuAllOverAgain · 07/04/2014 12:29

Of course if you had stuck lighthearted in the thread title you probably would have had a nice frothy 1000 post thread from some posters complaining that you put lighthearted in the title Grin

Pipbin · 07/04/2014 12:54

I know how you feel.
My neighbour's 18 year old was playing his music too loud. DH went to ask him to turn it down, and he did. And apologised the next day.
The other side had a teenage party in the garden. They told is before hand that it would happen and they would turn off all music by 11 and they did.

How am I meant to complain about that?

Sparklingbrook · 07/04/2014 12:59

We have reasonable neighbours. It's no fun at all. One rings me from McDonalds to see if anyone would like a McFlurry when she comes back, and sends me Sloe Gin and Cheesecake down, and the other had the nerve to give me a Herman. Shock

The one over the road came over with a bunch of flowers for me last week and chocolate for DS as he had hurt himself.

sunbathe · 07/04/2014 13:00

Ha ha, I was going to ask if you were fumming!

I have been out this morning, and everything was fine.

A customer in the phone shop let me in front of him because he thought he would be a long time too. Sad

I was the only patient at the dentist and went in before my appointment time.

YoniBGood · 07/04/2014 13:43

God, are people really so incapable of reading an OP thoroughly?

I do wonder about people's comprehension skills at times.

OP - he's a bastard. How dare he deny you your rant? Could you possibly drop a note through the door d'you think?

ConfusedPixie · 07/04/2014 13:54

I've had an awfully reasonable morning too. Went shopping with DP. People were being polite when driving and letting everybody out instead of driving like arseholes.

The lady behind the tills in the cafe joked with me whilst DP went to get money out of the cash point (cash-only place) and found it amusing that we changed our minds last minute about what croissants to have (almond) instead of being annoyed at us for not coming prepared with cash or for changing our minds. DP actually came shopping with me without complaining about how long I was taking to try on clothes and was constructively criticising clothes I was trying on and gave valid reasons. He even picked out some things for me to try on! Shock

When we got home I was playing with the rats and he actually took good photos of them. Never. Happens.

I have nothing to silently froth about today.

SavoyCabbage · 07/04/2014 14:01

Grin I've had wine. It's nearly midnight here.

I haven't got anything to fumm about either... Went to drop off some paperwork for a conference speaker this morning, which took me very slightly out of my way and allowed me a lie in. And then he had the nerve to give me a bunch of flowers.

There was no traffic on the A14 either, and only one set of overtaking lorries.
