To want to stick a bomb under my opposite neighbour's caravan?? ( lighthearted! )

We've lived here a couple of years now. The opposite neighbour has a tourer caravan that hasn't left their drive way during that time. I say tourer, technically it is but it's obviously pretty static. It's ugly and blocks their drive so they
park all their cars in our crowded cul de sac. It also obscures most of their front door and porch.

Now, I'm not the best at decluttering I'll admit but I'd soon shift a caravan I never used. And, as garden features go, caravans don't feature on my list.

AIBU to wish it would disappear somehow, anyhow....?!

Buy it off them, then immediately sell it on?

Thing is, it doesn't seem to be for sale?

I can never understand why people put caravans on their drive. There are places that you can store it and just get it back when you need it.

My next door neighbour had one on his drive, blinking thing blocked a lot of light into our house as well. Plus it was green and moldly. Took at least 10 years to get to move it!

Just knock and ask - if they don't use it they might be delighted you've saved them the bother of advertising it.

I just read the title to this thread and had to have a peek as I was chuckling a bit at - putting a bomb under something and it being lighthearted lalala For some reason it reminded me of the fairy on Scrooged who was oh so lovely but a bit unhinged and brutal really!!

I suppose it's their garden so it's up to them and so YAB a bit U but I guess it could be annoying in a small place. Still, look on the brightside - it could be much worse, for example burnt out cars/washers/sofas but that's the type of area I grew up in haha! its all relative

Check the deeds to your house, mine say I cannot keep a caravan or boat on my driveway!

Alot of folks use them for storing stuff.

MIL keeps SILs gubbins in hers.

You could advertise to rent it out and then at least it would be used by somebody and hence useful albeit an eyesore

That would drive me mad! I also think caravans should have mots due to being sat around but that's a whole other thread!

YANBU, bloody grief wagons! Our neighbours do use theirs but they always set off at 2am and do their packing at this time, incredibly loudly. Grrrrr (wow feels good to get that off my chest!)

Will look into the property deeds and the MOT angle.

My mums neighbours had a huge monstrosity on their drive, and because their house is opposite and turned to the side of my mums house, the whole thing blocked the view of her house.

i watch top gear with my ds's just to see how many caravans jeremy and his side kicks will blow up, destroy, crush and generally mangle. hate 'em with a passion !!

I can't get wound up by what others park on heir drives.
Why would anyone care if a caravan blocks the view to their neighbours house?

The other thing about keeping your caravan on the drive is that when you take it away on holiday it's a great invitation to the local thieves that your house is unoccupied.

A friend of mine had neighbors who would go out and sit in their caravan drinking tea.

My sister keeps her camper van in front of her house. They probably use it half a dozen times a year. She used to have a caravan that they kept at a mates farm but it was such a faff every time they wanted to check stuff or replace something or get it ready when they went away. It's much nicer having it at home where she can keep an eye on it and pop out and sort stuff out whenever she wants to. They've still got room to park two cars but whenever we visit we have to park in the cul-de-sac.

Caravans are very fugly. The caravanning episode of Top Gear is brilliant.

We had a caravan in our front garden for 19 years, the last 9 we used it for storage. We used it to tell people how to find our house as we live on a very busy main road. We kept it in the front garden to start with to upset the old witch who lived next door.

I hate people with caravans in their front gardens. What makes you think I want to stare at that monstrosity all the time? Could say more but just gggggggggrrrrrrr.

It would annoy me if someone had their fugly caravan on their drive then parked their cars all over the cul de sac as in the OP. Especially as they never use the thing.
