DH says I'm imagining it but I couldn't fit a whole one in my gob before.

Anyone else noticed?

They definitely have! I swear there's less chocolate too. I remember as a teenage daring each other to eat one whole and barely being able to bite it but it would be easy now.

WestieMamma · 27/03/2014 17:28

It appears that Amazon deliver them here but only boxes of 48. Looks like I'll be giving MrsDavidBowie a run for her money.

They are disgusting though.

Caramel eggs or Lindt eggs are too small that is certain.

SarniaCherie · 27/03/2014 19:19

My mum remembers them sitting in normal egg cups too.

hickorychicken · 27/03/2014 19:25

I used to struggle to get it in my mouth, now its easy as anything Grin

Lesleythegiraffe · 27/03/2014 19:30

Definitely - along with every other chocolate bar.

zirca · 27/03/2014 19:45

My DH and I are thinking of getting some egg moulds and using the link above to make our own creme eggs - with DECENT chocolate! I quite like the Lidl chocolate...

A friend of mine made an easter egg sized creme egg filling and everything took days to eat! Grin

RandomPants · 27/03/2014 19:51

I weighed mine the other day. It was 40g. I had looked at it and wondered for a while before weighing. Then I just gave up and are it.

winkbingo · 27/03/2014 19:55

Think I read somewhere on MN (70s food thread type thing) where one poster said how there was a Creme Egg offer of a special Creme Egg sized egg cup when you collected tokens. (think I remember this correctly).

Anyway, said Creme Egg cup was from the days of yore and NOW, Creme Eggs are rolling around in the recepticle.

All the proof we need.

Orangeanddemons · 27/03/2014 20:02

I remember when they were 2 1/2p with really thick chocolate on. I also remember Needlers eggs, which had chocolate goo inside them. They were yummy.

loulou282 · 27/03/2014 22:08

Not only have they shrunk the chocolate is thinner. I remember a time when you would struggle to bite the top of!

mishmash24 · 28/03/2014 05:47

Yes yes! Winkbingo, I remember said offer circa 1987 or so, save your wrappers and choose your Creme egg merchandise, I was the proud owner of a huge beach back in the shape of a Creme egg! Slightly odd now I come to think of it but the school girl me thought it was the bees knees!

Think mum still has it somewhere, was surprisinly good quality if I remember correctly (though may well be disappointed when I check!).

But as an avid eater of the eggs in my younger days, can vouch for smaller size and thinner chocolate now, I too remember the difficulty in biting the top off, slight gum discomfort due to size and density of shell.

I'm just so excited - I've had a rubbish week with tonsillitis and just felt miserable.

Woken up to a goody bag of Jelly Babies, Creme Eggs, Mini Eggs and Quavers!

As an expat, I do not think I have ever been so happy.

fishybits · 28/03/2014 06:15

Whitepuddingsupper - yes McDonalds have got the creme egg mcflurries in but they don't taste right Sad

Chocolatestain · 28/03/2014 08:41

In a cunning tie-in with one of the week's other popular threads, I have a recipe in a free Lidl magazine for creme egg brownies. Have promised to make them for DH as a special Easter treat.

whitepuddingsupper · 28/03/2014 10:54

Thanks fishybits, maybe it's for the best if they are rank, I'm meant to be on the slimming world wagon anyway. Might have to get just the one for quality testing purposes though Wink.
