DH says I'm imagining it but I couldn't fit a whole one in my gob before.

Anyone else noticed?

I remember when crème eggs were 6p. Sad

I can't buy chocolate bars anymore. I'm always expecting 1987 prices and then have to stop myself from blurting How Much?? and completing the process of turning into my mother.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 27/03/2014 13:03

I'm not sure this is right so I'd better conduct my own test pronto.

I may be some time.

figgypuddings · 27/03/2014 13:03

Make your own enormous egg. Grin

Tuhlulah · 27/03/2014 13:06

Yes, they have shrunk, and so have Twix and Marathon.

UncleT · 27/03/2014 13:07

Aaaagh, Mavis! There's no such accent on the first e of 'creme'. Stop getting creme eggs wrong! Grin

MavisGrind · 27/03/2014 13:09

It wasn't me UncleT honest. My laptop thinks it's fancy and continental.

I know how to spell creme eggs....

WestieMamma · 27/03/2014 13:19

Figgypuddings I think I love you.

Scarletohello · 27/03/2014 13:26

Oh no I want a Creme Egg now!!

And WHY are chocolate products smaller now..?

It's a conspiracy.

Scarletohello · 27/03/2014 13:27

Hmmm just had a thought. Does this mean I have to eat 2 to get the same nutritional value as the old ones?

ilovepowerhoop · 27/03/2014 13:40

that clip is from 2007 and we know the USA eggs were made smaller cos it was on Wikipedia! (so must be true Wink ). I bet they have less chocolate now but more goo in the middle.

callmekitten · 27/03/2014 13:50

Personally, I like the newer, smaller (American) size better...better crème to chocolate ratio. We also have mini crème eggs...don't know if you have those there but they are all kinds of wrong.

HoVis2001 · 27/03/2014 14:00

madhairday, that is wonderful! That's a brilliant family connection to have. Smile This can't equal it in any way, but the nearest town to where I grew up has a maltings factory from which (allegedly) all the the malt in all the Malteasers in the world comes from. or so my parents told me when I was young and naive

CountessOfRule · 27/03/2014 14:00

I think they're the same size as small hen's eggs. Twenty years ago shops sold small, medium and large eggs; now they sell medium, large, XL and sometimes XXL.

callmekitten · 27/03/2014 14:07

Ooooo look! My computer thinks it's fancy and continental too!

MillyONaire · 27/03/2014 14:14

...since kraft took over

This might explain why their chocolate tastes yuk these days too - I tried their new Ritz/Lu bars and they're so greasy/fatty I couldn't eat them. Once upon a time I would have sold my first born for some Cadbury's but now (with the very strange exception of a large Golden Crisp which I can still inhale in seconds) I really am not a fan at all. Give me Lindt 70% instead!

ConfusedPixie · 27/03/2014 14:17

They have. So have freddos. And fudge's. And I was amazed when my charge was eating a wagon wheel the other day at how small it was and proceeded to take it off of my charge for 5 minutes examining it to his protests Grin

ConfusedPixie · 27/03/2014 14:21

That guy on the video is amazing!

AmberLeaf · 27/03/2014 14:21

All hail madhairdays Grandad! Grin We have a lot to thank him for!

I saw some in Co op last week and said this to my son, I am sure they used to be bigger.

ConfusedPixie · 27/03/2014 14:22

For giving me the idea of stashing eggs and proving a point... should have put that in the last post before I reflexively clicked "post message" Wink

madhairday · 27/03/2014 15:29

HoVis yes it's something the dc love hearing about, they never met him sadly but we always tell all the stories, my nan worked there as well and mum has old photos of her and all the other ladies working on the production lines in the 1930s. I get all nostalgic. Grandad used to take us to 'the chocolate shop' which was basically a room where Cadbury's sold a load of 'seconds' off to staff for mad prices, so we were always knee deep in chocolate. I really do hate Kraft because it is destroying the great institution Cadbury's once was - you can tell I feel strongly - it's deep in my blood!

Flakes and Twirls are still OK, apparently because they are made in ireland and don't come under Kraft? So don't have all the grease/soya milk which has ruined Dairy Milk etc.

Creme eggs will always be my favourite but there's nothing to them thesedays!

Scarletohello · 27/03/2014 16:45

I prefer Hotel Chocolat chocs these days, so delicious! And because they are made from real ingredients, they often have them on sale cos they go off!
