For anybody who is interested.
Most areas that still use decorating grants have rules about them these rules will be things like the following.
The house will be inspected first if its not a shit hole you won't get one.
If the house was a mutual exchange/management transfer you will not get one no matter what the outgoing tenant does after their inspection before they leave.
If the house has received a decorating grant with in x amount of years (sometimes 3-5) you will not get one.
If only one room is a shit hole I.e blood up walls dog shit all over the chipboard floor kitchen cupboards hanging off walls burns in kitchen surfaces but the rest is passable you won't get one.
If its a bathroom or kitchen that has an issue and it was updated within the last 10 years you will not get one.
If you personally received one in the last 2 years in your previous property you may not get one.
Loads are issued in vouchers for mainstream expensive shops that have restricted use I.e home base but they can only be used for paint/brushes/rollers/sand paper/filler but no wall paper/mold treatment/tools or anything else they sell.
They are not doing her a favour they are not helping her out they are helping themselves out by being able to use it to discharge their legal duty at a fraction of the cost.
Due to the nature of my work we very sadly deal with a huge amount of social housing moves often clients having to move with in months of allocation/exchange/transfer often we may have obtain grants for them for things like carpeting, curtains/fittings,decorating,cookers,serious cleaners.
from various charities (big up to SSAFA and other employment related charities from me) these brand new items go into the houses only for them to have to move again and these items get discarded even if evidence of them being brand new is provided.
