As far as I know this film is some sort of horrible horror torture film

Ds2 is 16 in June and thinks he was old enough to watch it.

I'm annoyed but am I overreacting? Teenage years are hard

The 1st one is so low budget its just well, crap.

I've just read the ploy of.the 2nd, Fuck, it sounds horrendous!.

LuciusMalfoyisSmokingHot · 22/03/2014 23:22

The Serbian Film is another that is truly vile, my friend used to work at Blockbuster as a manager, customer brought it back, told friend about how vile it was. My friend was so horrified she snapped the disc (only copy in store).

RhondaJean · 22/03/2014 23:24

There are a few films I wouldn't want my child watching.

I behave bought her 18s (carrie, hot fuzz, etc)

But wherever she watched an 18 I would appreciate the parent checking with me regardless of the film.

NurseyWursey · 22/03/2014 23:28

I'd be more concerned if it was Human Centipede 2. Makes the first one look like a disney film.

themadcaplass · 22/03/2014 23:31

At almost 16, I would say he and his friend most likely watched it of their own accord, out of pure teenage curiosity. I personally have seen it and the sequel and found them both to be pretty overhyped and stupid... there are worse things out there IMO

ladypete · 22/03/2014 23:32

annie I watched it when I was about 16, so no. Unless he is extremely sensitive or emotionally immature I think he will be fine.

whitepuddingsupper · 22/03/2014 23:34

Meh, I watched Nightmare on Elm Street when I was about 12 at a friend's house, it didn't mentally scar me. I wasn't daft enough to tell my mum though, she would have gone spare.

Wouldn't be my first choice of viewing, but he's old enough to decide what he wants to watch. I mean it is highly unlikely the he will try and attach his mates together mouth to anus as a result of watching the film is he?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/03/2014 00:19

I watched HC 1 - it took me a couple of goes, not because it was particularly (IMO) bad but I got really hacked off by the screamy dark haired woman and I sooooo wanted the Mad Scientist to KILL HER NOW Hmm

The reason he did it? He was a brilliant Surgeon who seperated co-joined babies...so decided to try reversing the operations.

I have HC2 on Amazon Prime and I need to watch it this week. I think I could stomach it apart from the tooth extracting, that would turn my stomach.

But there's an HC3 in progress.....Why?

WRT your son, there are worse films he could watch, this is a silly fantasy with one of the saddest final scenes ever.

I wouldn't want my teen watching hard porn for example.

Diane31 · 23/03/2014 00:52

Human Centipede you mean. I watched about half an hour of it and read up on it (as you do as it sort of fasinated me!) It made me feel depressed for days. Really really horrible film. I would not like a 15 year old to watch it.

NurseyWursey · 23/03/2014 00:53

I've just realised what the title says thanks to Diane That made me laugh ha! Caterpillar!

NurseyWursey · 23/03/2014 00:54

The fella in the 2nd one lives in a tiny council flat round the corner from my s/dad.

Creepy when you see him on the bus after what he had to act out in the film!

What would you do if your 15 year old came home from a friends and said he'd watched The Human Caterpiller film?
Caitlin17 · 23/03/2014 00:57

Eraserhead creeped me out. The bleeding, moving chicken, the deformed baby, the Lady in the Radiator. Ugh. I couldn't watch any of it again.

NurseyWursey · 23/03/2014 00:58

The second human centipede is awful. The poor woman naked, in labour trying to escape.

I won't tell the rest because it's far too triggering and awful.

Caitlin17 · 23/03/2014 01:00

Eraserhead is of course art (I've been told) but some of the imagery in it is vile. I've not seen the centipede film but could it be any worse than the baby and what happens to it in Eraserhead?

NurseyWursey · 23/03/2014 01:03

I've only seen photos Caitlin so I don't know, I've inboxed you what happens in HC2 though

thornrose · 23/03/2014 01:08

The first thing I thought of was Animal Farm, I was about 16 when it was on at a party I was at but it certainly wasn't authorised by a parent!

I agree the dad has made a serious error of judgement in allowing them to watch it, if that was genuinely the case.

MargotLovedTom · 23/03/2014 01:15

I hate all those torture/horror/exploitation type films. Human Centipede /Saw/ Hostel etc etc.

In the 80s everything seemed much more tame; I remember my friend and I scaring ourselves silly at The Howling and The Fog as teens, but they were fairly innocuous really. I don't think I'd be overly impressed if a dad provided contemporary questionable viewing matter to my dc.

I did see Animal Farm but the only thing I remember really is noticing pigs have a corkscrew penis.

NurseyWursey · 23/03/2014 01:20

I just watched this, inspired by this thread

The Top 65 Most Disturbing Films

Absolutely sickening. I seriously question the mindset of the creators of these films

Caitlin17 · 23/03/2014 01:25

Nuresey no way am I clicking on that link but I'm curious does Todd Browning's Freaks appear on it? It shouldn't.

NurseyWursey · 23/03/2014 01:29

No it doesn't, these are very explicit. I've seen that film, it's a thousands years away from these horrid things

AnnieMaybe · 23/03/2014 01:44

I thought Freaks was a good film..disturbing and dark but not int the same genre as the modern horror/torture films

I think as well Freaks is banned now Confused

SolidGoldBrass · 23/03/2014 01:50

I sincerely hope the video store manager who destroyed the disk got fired, officious interfering twat!

I have no patience at all with people who want to ban horror films. If you don't like them, don't watch them but it's none of your business if other people want to.

NoodleOodle · 23/03/2014 01:53

I'd ask them what they thought of it, try to have a conversation with them.
