Do you feel like housework is never ending.

I don't know how friends and family I visit homes look so clean and tidy, where mine is always messy and disorganised.

I tend to spend an hour or two a day just keeping on top of the house work, but come the evening it looks like I have done nothing.

A shit hole.
No storage and it's tiny. Large chest of drawers in bedroom has clothes piled to the ceiling.
Bathroom and kitchen so old and disgusting to get it clean you'd need to redecorate.
High shelves in lounge jumbles of stuff moved upwards from crawling wobbly stander.
I try to at least never have washing up needing doing or food waste and a clean toilet so even if there's clothes magazines books paperwork and toys everywhere nothing's going off or stinking.
Can't wait to move!!

NeverKnowinglyUnderstood · 20/03/2014 21:07

I have about 4 loads of washing waiting to be ironed but everywhere else is pretty tidy
oh and I haven't yet put tonights dinner things in the dishwasher.

HOWEVER today I had a lady round who is decluttering my house with me. Tis very exciting and worth every penny!!!

Only1scoop · 20/03/2014 21:08

Being decorated through ....living upstairs at the moment and trying to keep dd away from everythingConfused

ZingSweetCoconut · 20/03/2014 21:10

The weekend coming early in the form of a generous glass of red, does help one to overlook the wall handprints, sticky floor and general filthopia that is my house.

Innogen · 20/03/2014 21:19

Wall paperless because I can't find one I like, but I wanted to get started with the stripping. The walls may be bare for some time.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 20/03/2014 21:20

The cleaner comes on Thursdays so the whole place is spotless

bluepen · 20/03/2014 21:22

As the natural light improves, I am noticing parts that need attention from a toothbrush.
Can quite understand where a "spring" clean comes from.

Fifyfomum · 20/03/2014 21:24

Since my husband went away with work it has been spotless or close to tidy at all times. I have been slowly working my way around the house too getting everything together.

I hope that together we can keep it clean because it is too much for me with it being messy all the time.

KittensoftPuppydog · 20/03/2014 21:29

It's never ending boring shit.

bigwellylittlewelly · 20/03/2014 21:47

Agree with Bonsoir that the key is having regular visitors. I'd got very used to having a tidy clean house while on maternity leave with a baby that slept and older dd at nursery a few days a week.

then I went back to work. Baby quit sleeping and house descended into utter chaos. Add in part completed building work (cash flow issue) and the result was predicable.

However I spent Monday and Tuesday cleaning and chucking stuff and feel slightly more in control.

neversleepagain · 20/03/2014 21:50

Always a mess. It makes me want to lose the will to live some days. I have 18 month old twins who I completely blame for the shit tip we live in. I feel like all I do is tidy and they seems to follow me and untidy as I go.

Have decided to admit defeat and live in a shit hole until they leave home

neversleepagain · 20/03/2014 21:50

Today was not a good day.

bigTillyMint · 20/03/2014 21:51

Not too bad - just looking ready for our lovely cleaner to come tomorrow on her weekly visitSmile

I am fairly good at keeping on top of clutter and putting stuff away. Shame the DC aren't!

winkywinkola · 20/03/2014 22:05

The mountain of ironing has gone. Will be back in a couple of days.

The bathrooms are clean.

I need to Hoover (long overdue), mop all wood and tile floors, clean out fridge and bleach kitchen to within an inch of its life.

ThornOfCamorr · 20/03/2014 22:08

Kitchen is fine, lounge looks like the scene from Toy Story 3 when all the kids run into the play room and sling stuff. i just cant go in there DH is happily watching TV amongst it all Shock so it stays until tomorrow. Upstairs is generally ok, there is dust but I just don't breathe too deeply. Or look in the dc's bedrooms- ignorance is bliss. MIL is having dd3 for a couple of hours tomorrow morning so I will be playing on my iPad reading mumsnetting sleeping cleaning and hoovering.

ThornOfCamorr · 20/03/2014 22:09

Oh and the ironing pile has an attractive blanket arranged carefully over it.

LoveVintage · 20/03/2014 22:12

Tidier than usual as we are about to put it on the market. But I am mega stressed about how on earth we are going to keep it presentable for viewings (hopeful) what with work, teenage dcs and dog.

ThornOfCamorr · 20/03/2014 22:14

Bugger- just realised MIL is picking dd3 up at 9.15am! I will HAVE to sort out the carnage in the lounge or else she will SEE it. Got to do school run at ridiculous o'clock so no time then.

HadABadDay2014 · 20/03/2014 22:14

6 hours later and it's finally done, now to keep it that way.

Fairly tidy and clean actually. DS was with exP last weekend so I spent most of it having a spring clean which has lasted well. By the end of next week it'll be messy again.

I don't actually mind the housework, it's the general home admin that feels like a never ending struggle - finding someone to fix the guttering, chasing up the roofer who was supposed to come back 2 weeks ago, sorting out holiday childcare, writing cheques, filling in forms...urgh! At least you can have a blitz on the cleaning etc and it lasts for a while, the admin is neverbloodyending.

Slapntickleothewenches · 20/03/2014 22:50

It's ok but the decorators removed the windows today so the dust has blown..... somewhere?! I shall probably find a foot high ridge of it under the coffee table and enough dog hair to knit a new puppy but for now there's just some books and magazines out of place. And OldDog has been on the sofa while I was out so the throw needs decontaminating a light shake Hmm

ParanoidLucy · 20/03/2014 23:05

It's OK. Not hugely tidy but OK. Our room is a bit dusty and DS room is untidy but everywhere else is OK. Except the bathroom which has loads of mold. Blush. The kitchen is tidy after DH put a few dishes in the dishwasher and tidied up and then expects me to thank him Angry as though he has done me a huge favour. Hmm

Oldraver · 20/03/2014 23:08

It could do with a good going over. OH has just started nights so we are just getting used to that and it cuts down vacuuming time what a pity

ItStillLooksLikeRainDear · 20/03/2014 23:17

My cleaner was here today & the place already looks like a bomb site... Lego everywhere & I'm not allowed to tidy it away as DS is in the middle of building a space creation. The kitchen has been redecorated with flour after making biscuits with 2 toddlers & the bathroom sink has been blocked by DD stuffing loo roll down it!
