to vote Tory for £2000?

The government is going to give you lucky working parents £2000 for each child for childcare while you go out and earn a living - if you vote for them.

Will you?

'The support package – one of the coalition's central election offers to middle-class working parents – will be available, when launched, for anyone with children up to the age of 12 instead of the previous cut-off age of five.

The £2,000 maximum is to cover 20% of the costs of childcare up to an annual maximum of £10,000 a year. No extra support is available for people with more expensive provision.'

Milliband must be sick as a pig to see that we are coming out of recession, unemplyment is falling and people are starting to feel more upbeat generally. Not to mention the fact that the Govt are finally dealoing with the bloated Welfare State which is a measure supported by the silent ( non MN ! ) majority.

You don't have to pay me a penny to vote Tory! Grin

crazynanna · 18/03/2014 08:01

I would give the Tories 2k to fuck right off

crazynanna · 18/03/2014 08:02

My 1% pay rise does not, in any way, make me feel up beat

whineaholic · 18/03/2014 08:03

How many times do we read on here people saying that the cost of childcare is a huge issue for them and one which stops some women pursuing their careers post children?

Tories really can't win in champagne socialistMumsnet world, can they? Grin

Breezy1985 · 18/03/2014 08:03

They could give me millions - I still wouldn't vote for them!

Goblinchild · 18/03/2014 08:08

If being given cash to persuade you to vote for the Tories works, then you were Tory all along anyway.

MajorGrinch · 18/03/2014 08:08

I used to vote Tory but they're not offering anything new or attractive. I'm not interested in being taxed to pay for someone else's childcare either TBH.

Wouldn't ever vote Labour as they're an even bigger fuck up & beggar the country everytime they get in - plus both the main parties are clones of each other anyway.

Lib Dem - don't make me laugh!!

WooWooOwl · 18/03/2014 08:09

If I worked full time and used child care, then it would add to my list of reasons to vote Tory rather than labour, who just seem completely unelectable to me at the moment. But then I've never got tax credits and benefits, so I think it's good that something will finally be done to help middle income working families, even if it's not really enough.

MajorGrinch try the Greens? They have always had policies that would help the majority of the population, rather than the wealthier minorities.

It's not "free" money - they'll claw it back somewhere.

whineaholic · 18/03/2014 08:15

Time will tell - election next year.

I agree woowooowl - good to help the people who contribute the most to the economy.

Does anyone genuinely beleive Millionaireband will actually be the next PM? Grin

It's too early in the morning for me, so apologies if I'm being daft, but please tell me this is a joke?

Retropear · 18/03/2014 08:15

So I only gave to work £50 a week and pay zero tax as a second working parent in order to get this bribe.

Hmmmm nah no thanks.

Not keen on the demonising of sahp, taking away of CB and high taxes for those on not a huge amount(even though GO likes to think we love it so)whilst said Tories see fit to waste millions of money on free food and child care for the wealthy alongside helping out the uber rich.

whineaholic · 18/03/2014 08:16

You are possibly walking along a different street from me then, usual. A rising economy and falling unemployent tend to make most intelligent people see that life is on an upward turn.

Petrol prices are down a wee bit too.

whineaholic · 18/03/2014 08:22

I love these threads - if Labour had done any of these most of you woudl be sycophantic.

So - what about raising the tax threshold ? Let me guess - not enough, still won't help grumble grumble? Still higher than under Labour, though eh?

Or the rise in NMW? OOh, pick me - I know - not high enough? Hmm, still higher than under Labour though eh?

ohmeohmyforgotlogin · 18/03/2014 08:22

Is that all the ruination of the health and education and welfare system is worth?

Retropear · 18/03/2014 08:23

Erm Whine many people getting this will be paying zero tax, hardly helping those that" help the economy the most".

Retropear · 18/03/2014 08:24

In fact you could say it's costing more.

whineaholic · 18/03/2014 08:24

How do working people pay zero tax? How does that work, retro? Confused

Dawndonnaagain · 18/03/2014 08:25

Not to mention the fact that the Govt are finally dealoing with the bloated Welfare State which is a measure supported by the silent ( non MN ! ) majority.
Absolutely! My disabled husband really enjoys the fact that I've had to go part time because he's lost his support due to cutbacks in the welfare state. He particularly enjoyed the eight months last year where they stopped his money and we had to go to appeal, the icing on the cake being that there is no disabled parking within a mile of the appeal centre. Obviously we won the appeal, but it took him and his dignity a significant amount of time to recover, but as long as the Tories are paying ATOS millions to fuck it up and those benefit scrounging scum aren't getting it, that's fine, isn't it? Hmm

WooWooOwl · 18/03/2014 08:26

Many people that get it will be income tax payers as well though Retro, some of them higher rate.

The government does need to move away from the attitude that anything that helps anyone who earns more than NMW or receives benefits is unworthy.

RuddyDuck · 18/03/2014 08:27

well said goblinchild.

VeryStressedMum · 18/03/2014 08:27

Has David Cameron's government made things worse?
