Oh, just notice it includes accommodation. Is that the going rate for an au pair type job then, though this seems more than most au pairs do ime.

Yanbu that is outrageous!

oldgrandmama · 17/03/2014 17:08

Ha ha, surely a wind-up? WEEKLY SPRING CLEAN? Do me a favour, it's totally ridiculous even for a spoof ad!

RhondaJean · 17/03/2014 17:09

I think it's too many hours for an au pair - with the "spring" clean (I assume that's thorough clean, not just pushing the hoover occasionally, but not bleaching skirting boards either) it's pretty much full time.

I used to have a live-in job on terrible money, but there's only so much you can give as perks in lieu of pay. From memory at the time it couldn't take you lower than 80p/h under minimum wage.

So I think either it isn't an au pair job or it isn't legal pay.

CountessOfRule · 17/03/2014 17:11

Bollocks. It isn't an au pair job and it doesn't pay enough.

Even with the accommodation £45 a week is taking the piss.

CountessOfRule · 17/03/2014 17:12

Did sums. It's minimum 30h/w so £5/h under minimum wage.

NurseyWursey · 17/03/2014 17:12

What?!! Surely this isn't real. Please someone get in touch with them ha

attheendoftheday · 17/03/2014 17:13

45 a week?

Surely no one will work that amount for that, even with accommodation. That's less than an au pair would get.

Bornin1984 · 17/03/2014 17:13

doesn't want much for 45 quid does she

adsy · 17/03/2014 17:14

And she wants qualified childcarer with Ofsted registration. Cheeky mare.
Shall we all apply and try to haggle the wages up to £46?
What do we all reckon the proper going rate should be? I'd say at least £250 per week if she wants qualified etc. Bear in mind this is the North West so not mega wages.

Ludways · 17/03/2014 17:14

Dear me, that's appalling!

If someone is willing to do that they can come and work for me!!!

Bornin1984 · 17/03/2014 17:15

Would an au pair be registered with offsted?

One thinks she won't have many applicants and will have to reconsider

MamaPain · 17/03/2014 17:15

Agree outrageous but can I pick up on the other point of what an earth if Afro-Caribbean cuisine?

There is regional African cuisine, same for the Caribbean. Anyone I know from either of these regions, DH would specify e.g. I want Jamaican food, not Afro-Caribbean.

Really strange phrase IMO.

Bornin1984 · 17/03/2014 17:16

And only the evening meal inclusive!!!! Where's the money to buy rest of meals???

AlpacaLypse · 17/03/2014 17:16

Is this the same demented loon mother woman whose previous au pair we talked out of the job and the house a couple of months ago? It's that £45 a week for not far off full time hours and including a lot of skivvying which rings bells.

adsy · 17/03/2014 17:17

Oooh yes. I think it is. I assume her previous slave has left!

OP posts:
NinjaBunny · 17/03/2014 17:18

Fuck!

Sounds like you'd be working from dawn to dusk.

House tidy at all times? With 3 children?

Confused

Could she be from another planet??

Whoknowswhocares · 17/03/2014 17:19

So she wants to pay way less than Job Seekers allowance for someone qualified and with at least 2 years experience??????

2 possibilities. Typo or deranged madwoman.

adsy · 17/03/2014 17:19

Shall I message her and ask if it's a typo?
