YANBU, had to suffer it in the car the other week. It was only worth it when they played that song from Frozen, who cheered dd1 up no end.

Paul O'Grady is fabulous, as is Craig Charles, he really knows his stuff without being up his own area. I like Huey too.

I do think that since Radio 1 decided that it wanted to serve schoolchildren only, Radio 2 has too broad an age group to cater to.

I keep missing Johnnie Walker because he has the misfortune of being sandwiched between break a legs and dead pets. It's nearly enough to make me nostalgic for Sing Something Simple. Fortunately the memory of them droning their way through Uptown girl is enough to restore rational thinking.

slartybartfast · 18/03/2014 06:40

ha ha Mrs Mook, i agree about missing JW because of where he is positioned!

DH has DAB in the car - I'm so jealous that he can switch to 6 music or Absolute 90s as soon as he hears "EP here!"

I like Liza Tarbuck though, and Paul O'Grady.

YANBU - Crusty the Clown from the Simpsons comes to mind.

MistressDeeCee · 18/03/2014 07:03

I don't listen to her at all, but since I was sat here wondering 'why is everybody going on about her laugh' I thought Id look her up on You Tube. There are loads of clips of her laugh.

I am Shock. I wasn't able to make it to the end of the clip there is NO WAY Id be able to take even 10 seconds of that laugh. I think Id spontaneously combust. Or commit murder. & it sounds forced/false.

Horrid.

Why can't we have some good music and someone easy on the ear to listen to on a Sunday? I do like the sound of Neil Nunes (continuity announcer on radio 4 on a Sunday morning). I wonder if he'd like to do a Sunday radio 2 show.

SometimesLonely · 18/03/2014 07:39

I've only ever heard EP sing Memories so I don't know what her laugh / cackle / snigger is like. Can someone give us a link to it, please?

SometimesLonely · 18/03/2014 07:40

Ah! MistressDC. I'll try YouTube.

SometimesLonely · 18/03/2014 07:44

I've listened to EP's laugh on YouTube and it made me smile was infectious but should I say it?? it sounded like a smoker's laugh.

normalishdude · 18/03/2014 09:34

I like her. Why do you listen if you hate it so much? Sounds a bit like self harm...

WaftingWilberry · 19/04/2015 14:28

Just googled 'Elaine Paige laugh' and up came this thread. Good old MN.

What a relief that I am not alone. I just can't believe that she is PAID to make that horrible, horrible, horrible noise.

chocolatelife · 19/04/2015 14:30

I am in silence because of Elaine Paige

WaftingWilberry · 19/04/2015 14:48

It's a shame as the music is mostly great. But interspersed by murder-inducing cackling and wittering.

negrilbaby · 19/04/2015 15:47

Just this afternoon, driving back from a shopping trip with DD (4years), DD queried why the radio was on Radio 1 and not 2 - she usually sings along with the jingles. I explained that I couldn't stand the Elaine Paige section on a Sunday. She asked why and so I told her that it was not good. She looked at me for a minute and then said, quite firmly, 'Well tell them then, and they'll put something better on'. Maybe she has a point ...

Love the idea of an After Dark show - Hasa Diga Elaine Paige
