I don't like my neighbours. Do you like yours?

Small 1930's house. Small garden. Neighbour has huge trampoline. Children spend whole time bouncing and looking into our house making strange faces and silly/rude comments. Children are over 12. I would understand if younger - as wouldn't know better perhaps. Am I unreasonable in thinking they should have the manners to look away from our house/windows and not make stupid/rude remarks? Their mother is equally as bad... please tell me if/why you don't like your neighbour?

We have an elderly couple attached who are deaf as posts so we hear their television if it's quiet in our house (so not very often :-) ).

Our other neighbors are the same age as us and we each have kids the same age. Shared school runs, BBQ's in the summer and a fruit and veg exchange program keeps us both well provisioned.

We did think they were a bit square until I noticed Mr smoking a ma-hoosive joint the other week.

I reckon I've just narrowly avoided being mentioned on this thread as I just stopped dh (an adult remember) going out in the garden with our toddler to have game of bat and ball!

She is currently kicking off because I won't let her play the piano very loud and plonky.

It is hard when you have early risers, I need a detached cottage in the middle of nowhere.

I live in a small narrow grove of 12 semi's. Was lovely quiet road a few years back but when my very elderly neighbour died on house on attached the most inconsiderate selfish family moved in...built a huge conservatory...builders used our hose without asking...returned full of holes and concrete, then neighbour put up huge fence when we already have a fence so huge no mans land between both fences, then neighbour sprays fence with wood stain which went all over our newly installed windows and frames...marks are still there, also covered the whole side of my dps new car. They also park over our drive and block the road. my dp was looking out of the window when they'd just finished the conservatory and waved to their little girls...blinds were closed immediately as if dp was some kind of child preying monster. The final straw came a couple of years ago when my dp. dd and I were watching tv one saturday afternoon...we heard an awful screeching noise...jumped up to look out of the window to see a ball of fluff in the air. They'd run over their own cat...bundled the kids in their car and sped off. Their cat was under our car on our drive in a puddle of blood and wee. We phoned the rspca who wouldn't do anything as cat was not a stray. This happened at around 3pm. When neighbours returned my dp spoke to them...they denied everything. The cat was pealed of our drive by neighbours at around 10pm. We call them the cat killers.
Adjoined are just bloody noisy with 3 boys who have no boundaries, bedtimes etc. Other than that...love where I live.

I had a lovely neighbour, she would watch sleeping Dcs if I had to go get others. He gave me veg from the beautifully tended garden. They told me they were doing a swap. I saw new neighbour and said Hi. He said...' F**f off...cant we do anything in this village without people gossiping!' Anyway fast forward 8 years .... we have put up with their youngest letting our guinea pigs out...'only wanted to play with them!' (luckily we caught them all but what a palava) The rows... oh the rows. I only called the police when the kids were involved....Daddy please don't hit mummy again etc etc. It is quiet now as they split up but she is poorly and as I never got friendly and as a nice person I feel guilty as she lost the kids and is alone now. When she was in hospital, we did have the son,17 round to feed him as he was alone. So no...don't hate the neighbours but they have not made it easy to be friendly either.

Got on well with neighbours of 22 year until my Dh asked them if they could stop leaving their new untrained collie dog in the garden for hours on end barking at everything.
They would be in the house with the doors opened, whilst the dog barked constantly yet they never called the dog or investigated why he was barking.
It all came to a head last summer and we haven't spoken since as they took great offence and have ignored us ever since, the funny thing is they don't let the dog bark all day in the garden anymore so they knew it was a problem, but were just too lazy to do anything about it.

RH neighbours - lovely couple, so nice, came round when DD was born and said if we ever needed help or advice just to knock any time day or night (they have 4 grown up DDs and 2 grandkids), just adorable really

LH neighbours are just trees and swish pleasantly in the breeze

Bottom-of-the-garden neighbours also lovely, a paediatric nurse who also offered help/advice/babysitting should we ever need it. They have two bonkers dogs who scamper around madly in their garden twice a day and then go back inside.

Next door but one - the gaybours, so nice and they have the loveliest garden

my neighbours left and right are lovely. However, there are a few that are pains in the a**e! I returned from a day out with my children to find the neighbours kids riding around my garden on their bikes. They have crushed my plants, scratched my car and smashed a light on my left side neighbours car. They are obnoxious and disrespectful. I confronted one set of parents who were actually totally mortified and very apologetic. Parents of the other kids just refuse to accept that their kids were involved because they are "perfect little angels". These kids are aged between 4 and 8. They are out every day unsupervised. I live in a terraced house and hate my neighbours on both sides of me.. I and my family made a big step to move to a new city for a better house and life especially for our mum who has health problems and from the day we moved in they made us feel uncomfortable they would close their Windows every times they saw us and would watch us everytime we left the house they would also through rubbish in our front and back garden everyday, bang on the walls a lot play their music very loudly (walls are paper thin), bang and knock on the walls everytime we were on the phone.. My mum who has loads of health problems would be sitting in her room and they would play there music very loud and bang on the walls during the day and also at night which is causing her to lose sleep at night and causing her a lot of stress.. We desperately want to move because them doing this is making us ill and unhappy and causing us a lot stress we don't even feel comfortable in our own house.. The neighbours know each other and we feel they are in it together which is even worse it's so uncomfortable living Inbetween these people.. Everyday we are woken up by their dog barking aggressively in their garden... Does anyone know what we can do to move?? 😢😢😢😔😔😔

Don't like mine for the same reason, bl**dy trampoline!!! Not just the kids looking over the fence, but the Mum bouncing on it when drunk at 2am in the morning!!! She doesn't answer the door to parcel delivery men either, so they then come and deliver to me, even though I know she's in the house. They also shout and scream at their kids early on a Sunday morning when I'm trying to get a lie in.
My neighbour the other side also has a trampoline and they let their son bounce and scream on it at 7am. They also have a dog that barks when they are out for hours.

I have fantastic neighbours.

On one side a lovely 80 year old retired teacher who absolutely adores children. She loves to hear our's playing in the garden , she says that it's a joyful sound. She always gives the children small birthday and Christmas gifts. I love chatting to her as she's had a wonderfully interesting life.

The other side are a retired couple who are really friendly and chatty and would do anything for you.

I just hope they never move away!

One side are lovely. Mad gardeners.
One side are ok(ish) - not keen on them but i think they are the same about us! They are no problem though.
Had awful neighbours where i used to live!
It is the luck of the draw, but really really bad ones must be a nightmare.

Why resurrect a ZOMBIE THREAD from nearly 3 yrs ago?

We're in a semi and our attached neighbour is great! He works odd hours and apologised for waking us when he went in the morning (have literally not once heard him) gave use glasses of prosecco over the fence when we moved in. Very straight talking, which I like, I'm the same. Really quiet, always let us know if they're having people over in the evening and we've never had any issues with them at all.
The other side (not attached) is something else. Clearly hates her kids, constantly stoned, deals drugs, lets her kids do what they want, have a chavoline and the kids screech constantly. Used to play bassy music but seems not to now. Have spoken to her about it but obviously she doesn't care. Not sure how she still has her tenancy tbh, is very open about her arrears . It's supposed to be a lovely village that we live and, looks like we got the one shit neighbour!

I'm very lucky! I only have neighbours on one side and they are lovely! They mow my front lawn for me in the summer and are always there if needed, although I don't bother them unless absolutely necessary. Have only had one bad ndn in previous house and have to admit it can make your life miserable, so you do have my sympathy op. Hope things improve soon for you.

I love mine! We live in a large terraced house in London. Neither of the women (me included) on either side of our house work so we often have coffees during the day or host dinner parties at each others' houses with their spouses.

From reading this thread I think I am very lucky..!
