To not understand the point of Minecraft?

Or is there no point? DD (7) has recently started playing it, she just appears to be wondering around aimlessly occasionally she plonks a few bricks down. Is she supposed to find things? Complete things? There must be more to it than this?!

I love minecraft as do all my children. I used to record gameplay. It's much more than just building. You can download adventure maps, play mini games, make parodies.

My eldest has autism and particularly loves it, she is so creative with the game.

It has more of a point when they are old enough to play online and chat to their friends and explore and build stuff together. For little kids playing in creative mode it's just digital lego.

BluBird I'm glad I'm not the only mum! I can't wait till my littlers are old enough to play it although we'll need to get more PCs because I'm not coming off to let them on if I've just spent two hours looking for a stronghold and finally found it

Sorry I can't read any further than the couple of posts about cows!! OMG so funny!!! Have you come across the cats yet. They are funny to!!

BluBurd · 13/03/2014 18:12

Toomuchtooold, as glad as I am! I am messing about with hexxit mod pack on tech launcher. Remember how long it took me to find a stronghold too Grin

Ah, so Stampy is to MineCraft as Chuggaaconroy is to Pokémon. But on a much grander scale.

BertieBotts · 13/03/2014 20:37

Toomuch, you need the xbox or ps3 version, then you can play split screen! Although DH and I spend the whole time squinting. It was better when DH did some hack thing so we could play on the 2 PCs and laptop at once, although that means allowing DS on one of our computers, which is not so good.

If any minecraft mums (or dads?) want a server for us to play on, I can set one up?

toomuchtooold · 14/03/2014 10:20

Bertie, you can do splitscreen on the xbox? Must try that!

Blubird I would be totally into that! Can you still play it together if you're not on at the same time? I'm "only" on for about an hour a day usually when the kids are napping.

(Yes, I do have Minecraft on both xbox and PC. Don't look at me like that.)

fanoftheinvisibleman · 14/03/2014 10:55

You can do split screen on Xbox as long as you are living in the 21st century with a HD Tv. Spot who isn't and hasn't Grin

BluBurd · 14/03/2014 13:00

Yes the server is hosted online so it's always on :) I'd actually love a mumsnet minecraft server! I am a lone parent and get a bit lonely sometimes :/ anyone wanting to join in could drop me a pm?

Ds is playing this currently. I have no idea what he is doing but he wishes he had a house so he doesn't get killed at night. As he can't read much yet I don't think he has much chance of building anything!
