To be a sneaky, lunch-police little buggar?

DH lunch bag is on the kitchen counter. He is on the school run. It contains:

Left over cold pizza (hm)
3 rounds of sandwiches
3 packets of crisps
1 pack of dollymixture!

I have replaced 2 packs of crisps with some popcorn, added 2 oranges...and tied it up again so he doesn't notice. AIBU to think he should be setting a better example to the kids? And AIBU to be so sneaky? Grin

I thought one round was one slice of bread?

OP posts:
VivaLeBeaver · 10/03/2014 09:46

I'd definitely have thought three rounds is six slices.

VivaLeBeaver · 10/03/2014 09:47

I reckon a slice is a slice.

A round is a sandwich

but still not 100% sure

Ludways · 10/03/2014 09:48

I'd do that, we'd both think it was funny.

BeverleyMoss · 10/03/2014 09:49

A round of sandwiches is two slices of bread with filling, cut into two or four.

I'm in the "one round of bread" club...or how do you explain triple decker sandwiches?

Three rounds of sandwiches would be 3 lots of sandwiches cut in half. 3 sandwiches would just be 3 sandwiches. The word

VivaLeBeaver · 10/03/2014 09:54

I could never be faffed to make a triple decker sandwich so don't have that problem.

BuggarMeGently · 10/03/2014 09:55

But how many rounds would the tree sandwiches be? Head hurta now...

OP posts:
DixieTrix · 10/03/2014 09:55

Club sandwich ??

BuggarMeGently · 10/03/2014 09:57

Three not tree!

OpalQuartz · 10/03/2014 09:59

3 rounds of sandwiches is 3 whole sandwiches containing 6 slices of bread.

Burren · 10/03/2014 10:01

A round equals a sandwich, ie two slices of bread. Three rounds equals three normal sandwiches.

OP, if another adult saw I was voluntarily taking dolly mixtures for my lunch, I would be so embarrassed I would never refer to the fact that they had been snooping.

BuggarMeGently · 10/03/2014 10:03

So a "round" is a whole sandwich even if it's made of 3 rounds slices of bread?

OP posts:
PeterParkerSays · 10/03/2014 10:40

3 bags of crisps is being selfish - presumably you wouldn't let the kids have more than one bag each - they're high in fat and need to be shared amongst the household. No-one needs 3 bags of crisps.

Menolly · 10/03/2014 10:48

it depends if he likes popcorn and oranges, I like to add fruit to DH's lunch but I never take anything out.

WorraLiberty · 10/03/2014 10:51

Does he work in an office?

If so, that appears to be about 1 hour's worth of food according to what I read on MN...Lol

Gileswithachainsaw · 10/03/2014 11:00

:o

TantrumsAndBalloons · 10/03/2014 11:04

You have just reminded me that I have dolly mixtures in my handbag OP

I had forgotten about them, I bought them for dd on Saturday.

she doesnt know that I bought them so it is ok for me eat them.

MrsSteptoe · 10/03/2014 11:06

Do it. Take the pizza as well and substitute a tupperware of raw chunky salad stuff (cucumber, pepper, avocado, tomato etc). I dare you. I double dare you.
Dolly Mixtures? Nah, Haribo. Every time.

MinesAPintOfTea · 10/03/2014 11:08

A round is a single sandwich which may have been cut in half to allow for easier eating.

YABU. To set a good example to DS I only eat unhealthy food when he's not about to see. So 90% of biscuits are eaten whilst he's in bed etc. I know I should eat well for my own sake as well, but whilst I work on doing that I'm still setting a good example where DS can see.

The most shocking thing about this thread is the fact that Jeeves still exists! Shock

EduCated · 10/03/2014 11:11

But a round is 2 slices of bread. I think. I'm not actually sure. We have this debate every time anyone in my family is offered a sandwich.

KurriKurri · 10/03/2014 11:11

I would only question the 3 packets of crisps - that seems like a lot of crisps. But depends what his job is I guess. If he's hefting heavy stuff around on a building site, he might need the calories, if the most strenuous thing he does all day is answer a phone, then maybe cut back on the crispage.

I think the Dolly Mixtures show he is a man at ease with himself, which is good. Grin
