Do you ever regret having children

As much as I love and adore being a mum, I often wish I waited till I was older to have my DC.

I wish I travelled more, had more in saving, went to university and settled into 1 home instead of 2 moves and resettling them again.

Am I alone in thinking this.

Yes.

Don't have - and never had - PND or depression. Children are neurotypical.

I just didn't know what the reality of parenthood would be like. And now I do, I vastly prefer the reality of childlessness. If I had a time machine, I'd definitely choose not to procreate.

This is different to not loving my children, obviously.

I've never regretted DD for a second, though I was only 23 having her and my relationship with her dad broke down. She's undoubtedly the best thing that's ever happened to me and I genuinely thoroughly enjoy every day with her.

On the other hand, I also had an abortion that I have never regretted either.

I didn't realise how hard it would be I was 19/20 when I had DC1.

I do find it overwhelming at times and I also feel me and DH rushed into TTC as we was together about a year when I had my BFP.

DC are now 7 and 4

I used to, sometimes. I certainly haven't enjoyed it all.

Not for a single second. After a long struggle to get pg in the first place I have been grateful for every moment of every stage - pregnancy, babyhood, toddlers and now school age children. My DDs are the joy of my life. I know that's probably soppy and saccharine but it's true.

No not at all. I'm 36 now and am just past the baby stage and I love it. I had my first at 25 and had already done fair bit of travelling, lived in US for a while. I am still young enough to have plenty of energy for 5 dc and looking forward to the years ahead so much and travelling with them.

Am not exactly regretting it (except briefly at 3/4/5am) but I definitely won't say I'm enjoying it at the minute. DS is 7 months and is clingy, whingy, easily bored, frustrated, shrieky and not sleeping. I think I've hated quite a lot of the last 7 months see my thread on whether DH should get a vasectomy. I love him very much, but I do miss my childfree life and have little 'what have we done' moments quite regularly. I'm hoping it will get easier, and I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy him more when he's older.

He's bloody gorgeous though.
