Mine is Freddie Jackson "rock me for old time sake" which was our first dance at our wedding 19 years ago, and also one of the first songs my DH played when we went on our first date.

Too many to choose from and all rather varied Grin

Raining Blood - Slayer. Reminds me of the best gig ever, Nottingham Rock City 2000.

Cowboys from hell - Pantera. Best song to sing along/head bang to when I went to rock clubs. (XL's/The Deep/The Cage/First Base)

Master of Puppets - Metallica. As above.

Down Under - Men at work. Just makes me smile when I hear it.

Three times a lady - Commodores Blush Totally go gooey at this song and I adore Lionel Richie.

Africa - Toto Blush Just love it.

Come on Eileen - Dexys midnight runners. Always played at the end of the night at The Cage in Wolverhampton in a bid to get everyone to leave but it was great to sing along to when pissed.

Wuthering Heights - Kate Bush. My dad adored Kate Bush.

The Snake - Al thingamy. Mum, dad and eldest brother all love Northern Soul and this is one I like to sing along to. Also have a very cringey memory of dancing alone to this on a very drunken night at Xmas. Grin

Layla - Derek and the Dominoes. One of my dad's favourite songs so I shed a little tear whenever I hear it.

The Queen is Dead by The Smiths. That song has everything: witty and clever lyrics, a great tune, a story, fabulous bongo beats, a serious message and Morrissey.

exWifebeginsat40 · 08/03/2014 23:20

Feellikeadairycow: Another Duhks fan! Love "Annabelle"...No one I know has even heard of them!

Ludways · 08/03/2014 23:35

Pure Morning - Placebo
Kandy - One eskimO (not well known but I thoroughly recommend a listen)
My Way - Frank Sinatra (that's old even for me, lol)
Bridge Over Troubled Water - S&G

No particular reason, just love them. I have other songs I love because of the memories that go with them, but I wouldn't say they're my favourites.

Heathcliff27 · 08/03/2014 23:37

There's A Ghost In My House by R Dean Taylor.
Just love it, a proper stomping tune that I never get tired of listening to.

TruJay · 09/03/2014 11:31

Some amazing songs on this thread,

I second A case of you, God only knows, Iris and The scientist.

And would add
Always and I'll be there for you by Bon Jovi.
Any song by Stevie Nicks!
Any song by Bob Marley but probably No woman, no cry is my fave.
absolutely love Fast Car by Tracey Chapman.
Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Gregory Issacs, Beautiful South!

to be honest i could go on and most of my reasons would be my mum's awesome taste in music throughout our childhood and all the memories it brings back!

i love it that my 4 year old gets in the car and says "can we have Marley mummy?" the old songs are the best!

FarToGo · 09/03/2014 11:41
