Assuming you work standard 9-5 type hours? Think age of DC is a main factor in timing of this meal and whether you and any partner do any exercise or other evening activity.

Around 5.30-6. DP gets home at 4.30 (up at 6am) and is always starving when he gets back, so I've just adjusted to his routine.

Oooh thanks. I can never find the Chat thread Claudius. Where does it live?

We never eat before 8 ish. I'd prefer earlier but we don't get home from work til 6, then there's bath and bed for dd, whose already eaten tea at nursery, so we don't even think about cooking until 7/7.30pm. Hey ho.

JennyOnAPlate · 05/03/2014 09:11

Kids eat at 5.30, dh and I eat at 8/8.30. Dh doesn't get in from work til gone 6.30 and that's too late for my dc to eat.

SeaSickSal · 05/03/2014 09:30

I would like to eat at about 6.30 but my husband is a pain and won't eat till after 8 so I have to sit there hungry till he is ready.

NightLark · 05/03/2014 10:05

8.30-9.00 ish. Which is far, far too late. I collect kids at 6pm straight from work, DH gets home 6.45 ish. Bedtime (3 kids) starts at 7pm and doesn't finish till 8.30 ish- I cook between 8.00 and 8.30 while DH reads to the oldest. It's not a good system.

NightLark · 05/03/2014 10:07

Oh, kids have eaten at CM / nursery by 5.00 pm so they just have suppertime snacks at 6.30 when we get in.

NightLark · 05/03/2014 10:07

I feel like I spend my whole evening preparing food in a rush!

Children eat between 5.30 to 6

DH and I eat at about 7.30 to 8

RufusTheReindeer · 05/03/2014 10:43

Sorry, should really day that the children are 15,12 and 10

Clutterbugsmum · 05/03/2014 10:43

The DC's eat around 5pm as by then they are chewing the legs of the table.

Me and DH tend to eat when he gets home. So anywhere from 7pm or as at the moment when ever he gets home.

lumpyporridge · 05/03/2014 10:48

Depends on which day of the week it is - anywhere between 6pm and 10pm. We have gym/sports activities several nights a week so don't get home until 10pm some days. DS is a teenager but often doesn't eat dinner at home - if I know he'll be here it's usually 7pm ish.

Lulabellarama · 05/03/2014 10:52

Children eat at CMs

We eat around 8pm. I usually start cooking once the youngest is in bed (7pm) and if he is home in time DH will often do some weights or go for a run for 1/2 hour. I do my exercise in the morning so we don't clash.

ILoveWooly · 05/03/2014 11:25

DH get's home around 6.45pm. We all eat together around 7pm except for one week night when DS and DD1 have activities, then the DC's eat together at 5.30pm and DH and I eat together at 8pm.

DD(2) goes to bed at 8pm (used to be 7pm but most day's she wasn't seeing DH at all Sad) Then DD(9) goes to bed at 8.30pm and finally DS(11) goes at 9pm.

MidlifeNewMe · 05/03/2014 11:31

Between about 6:30 and 8:00. All eat together (teen dc)

WipsGlitter · 05/03/2014 11:38

About 6.15 when DP gets in. I get in between 5.15-5.30. We all eat together, children are 6 and 4. All cleared up by 7 when the little one goes to bed.

aworkingmummy · 05/03/2014 11:48

At the moment it's 8.30 ish as DS gets dinner at nursery, so we eat after he's in bed. When he's in school it'll be 6.30 so we can all eat together - I'm gonna have to learn to plan & cook quicker meals! At weekend it's 5.30 for all of us.
