Assuming you work standard 9-5 type hours? Think age of DC is a main factor in timing of this meal and whether you and any partner do any exercise or other evening activity.

We used to eat together at 6 (I work part time so plenty time to cook for then). But now dhn't get in until 6.30 or later. So I still cook for ds at 6. Depending on what it is I will either eat with ds and keep dh's warm (or reheat) or wait and eat mine with dh.

idinnehaveaclue · 04/03/2014 19:45

8.30pm to 9pm.

We both get in late. DH still isn't home... Sad

NearTheWindymill · 04/03/2014 20:04

When the DC were small and I didn't work we ate together at about 5.45. When I went back to work and we had an au-pair the dc ate at about 5.45. Now the DC are teens and I work longer hours the DC and I tend to eat at about 8.30 (there are snacks so they can cope between 5ish and supper time). DH is rarely home before 9.30 and I have always kept his dinner aside for him and had a glass of wine with him whilst he eats it.

frumpet · 04/03/2014 20:11

9 pm , this is actually on a work or non work day . Feed the children earlier though Wink

CremeEggThief · 04/03/2014 20:14

Any time between 5.30 and 7.30 here, although usually 6.30-7 p.m. Just me and DS (11).

winterlace · 04/03/2014 20:17

6:30

ivykaty44 · 04/03/2014 20:17

Around 9pm on work days we have supper, but I eat a hot meal at lunch time

Dd2 has a snck of soup or beans on toast at four thirty ish

ceeveebee · 04/03/2014 20:20

DCs eat around 5 with our nanny, I get in from work at 630, do bedtime and then start cooking. DH gets in around 8 so we usually eat around 8/830.

Offler · 04/03/2014 20:30

Mondays and Friday's we all eat around 5:30-6. I only work school hours on those days, DP usually home around 5:30. Tues-thurs is usually just me and DP as the kids will have eaten at nursery and childminders, so we eat around 6:30 and the kids just have a snack. I use the slow cooker a lot and freeze batches.

flowery · 04/03/2014 20:43

About 8.30/8.45 ish.

DC eat at about 5/5.30 then in bed for 7. I work for an hour then DH gets in at about 8.15/8.30, then we eat.

verytellytubby · 04/03/2014 20:47

8-8.30

Kids eat at 6. If I eat with them I need another meal at 9 Wink

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 04/03/2014 20:52

DS eats about 5.30-6pm.

DH gets home 6.30-7pm.

We then do bath and bed and eat 8.30-9pm when DS is settled. One of us cooks whilst the other is doing bedtime.

If I'm working I don't get home til 9.30pm so we don't eat together. We try and eat together at a weekend if we can.

Sparrowlegs248 · 04/03/2014 22:18

No children yet for us. I do all the cooking. Leave work 5.15pm, see to horse and/or exercise class. Home 7.30 eat 8 - 8.30pm.

Mim78 · 04/03/2014 22:20

6 pm together with dd(5). Dh eats later if back late (or I do if I am late when working - rarer for me to be late)

Now ds has been born eating slightly earlier to get feeds in if poss!

trufflehunterthebadger · 04/03/2014 22:21

We don't work normal hours (DH policeman, SIL nurse, BIL coach driver) but if we're all here in the evening we eat around 8pm

Ragwort · 04/03/2014 22:22

No set time, depends entirely on what our evening plans are, if DH or I are working late, what clubs/activities any of us have.

So anytime really between 6pm - 8.30pm.

DramaAlpaca · 04/03/2014 22:23

Any time between 7.30 & 9 depending on who's home & who feels like cooking.

YarnyStasher · 04/03/2014 22:24

5:30pm with the DCs. One night a week DH and I ear later in front of the tv around 7:30pm.

BackforGood · 04/03/2014 22:29

Usually around 5.45
Almost every night someone will be going out somewhere - either dh or I to a meeting or one or more of the dc to their activities.

FunkyBarnYard · 04/03/2014 22:42

Just ate mine. DP was late home Hmm

dimdommilpot · 04/03/2014 22:46

We eat between 5:45pm and 6pm everyday of the week except Tuesdays when me and OH eat about 7:30 once DD is in bed as she has tea at her grandmas.

SpringPlease · 04/03/2014 23:25

Our two younger dc's have dinner at 5pm but I am nowhere near hungry enough to have mine. DH gets in around 5.30/6pm and is ready to eat. Most days I will make dinner for the two of us but eat mine later. I sit with the children and talk to them whilst they have theirs. I prefer to have mine around 8.30pm when it's quiet and I can eat in peace!! Some evenings we eat all together early but I find it all a bit of a rush to be honest and would much prefer to relax over a meal after getting all the bedtime and school prep done. DH likes to go to the gym three times a week so wants dinner out of the way. I love my food and want to savour it!

wobblyweebles · 05/03/2014 00:00

Don't work ft any more but when I did I would get home around 5.30pm and cook straight away so that we all ate together between 6 and 6.30. I can't eat late.

If we were going to exercise we'd do it after dinner.

6 ish. I try to have the kids in bed by 7.30. They have to be up by 6 and they're still pretty young.
