To think that Desigual clothes are unbelievably ugly?

There's a banner ad on my screen for Desigual clothes - those weird squiggly designs make my head hurt. Their coats always look like the sartorial version of weeping clowns painted on black velvet.

Who in the name of sweet baby Jesus actually wears this stuff?

[www.desigual.com/en_GB/womens-clothing/dresses/prod-aume-41V2845 go on then, knock some sense into me]]

mijas99 · 03/03/2014 16:53

I live in Spain. The Desigual demographic is definitely not young

I would say they are aimed at 35-55 year old middle class women

Saying that, you rarely see people wearing them, probably because they are ugly. You do see the odd Desigual coat and handbag here and there

teaandthorazine · 03/03/2014 16:55

Stinkle, it's less unpleasant than most of them Grin

But...£114 for 100% polyester?

Just to add that Desigual is basically a high street rip off of the more expensive and tasteful Custo

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/03/2014 16:56

HOW MUCH?!?!?!

And it's not like it's a good basic that you can wear loads. Sorry but it's a big, 'No,' from me.

Wuxiapian · 03/03/2014 16:58

YANBU.

Awful stuff.

Stinklebell · 03/03/2014 16:59

but...but...but...I like the pattern. I think Confused

BakerStreetSaxRift · 03/03/2014 17:00

I like it, each to their own.

weeblueberry · 03/03/2014 17:01

I hope you work for the marketing department at Desigual and have done this to make everyone click on the banner and get their click rate up because it's totally worked lol

I'm suggesting this to my digital clients. ;)

Stinklebell · 03/03/2014 17:02

It's now bloody waving at me from an ad on the side.

SoleSource · 03/03/2014 17:05

Some Desigual clothing is mainly black with a bit of colour. I
love Desigual.

pictish · 03/03/2014 17:29

Stinkle - I wouldn't wear that dress, but I can see why you like it. However, I would never pay £100+ for 100% polyester.

Stinklebell · 03/03/2014 17:33

It's only the inner (which I'm assuming means the lining) which is 100% polyester

the outer is 98% cotton or something (I can't remember and I've just got rid of it waving at me so I'm not clicking on the link again)

But yes, £100+...maybe if it goes in the sale

ButternutSquish · 03/03/2014 17:33

I'm wearing a Desigual jumper as we speak...and I love it. Each to their own you know. I love the bright colours and shapes. That's not to say they're all lovely, just a bit like going into Next and liking one dress and not another.

And Desigual is spanish I believe for 'different'...which they are

MorningTimes · 03/03/2014 17:34

The black and white stuff is quite nice.

SinglePringle · 03/03/2014 17:45

The clothes are some of the nastiest available to buy.

The patterns just seem to be trying to hard to be 'out there', 'unusual' and 'cool' and failing miserably on all levels.

LeslieKnope · 03/03/2014 17:50

But they're not different Butternut.

They're so bloody identifiable that it's immediately obvious from 500 ft what brand it is. That's not stylish.

Dumpylump · 03/03/2014 17:55

I've got a Desigual jacket, kind of blazer style. I usually wear it with jeans and a plain tshirt. I absolutely love it, but it does seem quite different to any of the other stuff I've seen, as its the only thing from there that I've ever liked Grin

Burmahere · 03/03/2014 18:24

I have one of their dresses and it is nice and gets compliments. It is grey all over apart from the front which has pink and orange on - sounds bonkers but it's actually lovely.

I know what people mean though about it almost being great but somehow missing the mark.

trice · 03/03/2014 18:31

I like Desigual, it is colourful and cheery. Dh says my coat is the ugliest thing he has ever seen! Luckily I don't dress to please anyone but myself .

Oldraver · 03/03/2014 19:10

I sort of like them but could never get away with wearing them.

And my local Garden Company Centre sells the stuff

MissBeehiving · 03/03/2014 19:11

Awful. Stuff.

KatieScarlett2833 · 03/03/2014 19:12

I have a t shirt. I love it Grin

fairyfuckwings · 03/03/2014 19:35

I've got a desigual dress on at the moment. I love it! I have loads of it - bags, 2 coats, jumper, lots of tops, 5 dresses and a couple of skirts. I gave lots of boden too. And next.

My husband really likes it too. I am a bit brash though I suppose. I also have proper bright red hair so clash wonderfully!
