To think Prince William and his wife are lacking appreciation of their position

and good fortune?

He just seems a bit of an over-privileged posh boy?

I know everyone says he has lovely manners, but we can expect a bit more than that, surely?

They have just hired a 'forrin' nanny a) after making an enormous PR fuss about not having one b) at a time of high UK unemployment.

The list of god-parents for their baby was a bit multi-barrelled and Hmm No foreign royals, as is traditional, but Not the slightest whiff of any demographic diversity either.

There seem to be a LOT of luxury holidays going on with these two.

The uni course he is doing has been especially designed for him and seems designed to prepare him for inheriting the enormous (private) Duchy of Cornwall. Not exactly public-spirited?

In the much-hyped first post-baby interview, he was keen to promote a charity saving Kenyan Rhinos. Nothing intrinsically wrong with that, but the line between animals he shoots for fun and animals he wants to save is unclear and anyhow a charity for under-privileged (UK?) children would have been the nice, publicity-shrewd thing to do, maybe?

For a couple with a great deal of expensive PR expertise at their disposal they seem to be slightly missing the mark a bit too often.

I think you are very kindly crediting Adam with a coherence he wasn't really managing, Ten

The RF have, themselves, understood the need for good PR for centuries. To claim it isn't important is ridiculous.

Can I ask what a filerbustering tirade is?
I thought to filibuster was to extend a debate in parliament in order to prevent a vote taking place.
I wasn't aware that PC got a vote or was allowed to debate in parliament.

Grin at the lazy argument of jealousy and envy. Plenty of us here have money and independence and great careers and families. Oh and we don't leach off others to acquire and maintain any of it.

When any of the royal 'attractions' make as much money as Versailles and Alton Towers, then we'll be talking.

Roll on the day that Charles frothing green ink letters get made public. it'll all be over for them then.

Oh, and some of us DO have a pretty good idea of what they think of the general public on account of having eyes, ears and a working set of cognitive functions. Plenty of evidence there of their contempt, irritation and condescension.

gertiegusset · 10/03/2014 23:04

Oh gosh yes, I imagine Private eye will have a field day with Charles' letters.Grin
Still bugs the shit out of me that the government actually pay him any attention.
Just why?
He's just some old git with an over inflated sense of his own abilities.

Mignonette · 10/03/2014 23:10

Oh don't forget Charles wonderful achievements at A level and at Cambridge. Wink.

fideline · 10/03/2014 23:20

Oh come on. At least Charles puts in the hours.

OP posts:
gertiegusset · 10/03/2014 23:27

He might put in the hours dictating writing his letters but he can't put the toothpaste on his own toothbrush.

fideline · 10/03/2014 23:36

Gertie, I agree with you on many things but give PC a break. He tries to understand issues and use his decades in waiting productively.

It is a basic problem of having unelected individuals in this type of position that they don't represent anyone but he has put immense effort into making himself useful, creating a role. I think he has a genuine sense of duty.

Wish William would do the same.

OP posts:
gertiegusset · 11/03/2014 14:42

C may well have a sense of duty to the country but the problem as I see it is that he is unelected, and that as much as it is a shame that one man (PC) has had an empty life career wise it does not entitle him, anymore than anyone else to have a say in the running of the country.

I don't think he is a particularly intelligent man, we all know people with better A levels and degrees and the same applies imo to William and his wife.

His interference in government affairs is wrong and the government should not be entering into correspondence with him except as another ordinary citizen/pensioner.
But it's not about intelligence or education, it's about what is right and the royal family have had their day, they are an anachronism and I would have so much more respect for them if they would see this for themselves.
Hopefully William and Katharine will mark the end of it all.

fideline · 11/03/2014 16:40

I can't actually argue with that Smile

PatrickStarisabadbellend · 11/03/2014 18:37

Totally agree with Gertie.

LCHammer · 11/03/2014 21:03

Good post, Gertie.

OddFodd · 12/03/2014 13:04

Looks like it might all come crashing down around PC's immense ears: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-26544124

LCHammer · 12/03/2014 13:08

I want to see his letters to Camilla. But not just now, I'm about to have lunch.

PatrickStarisabadbellend · 12/03/2014 14:03

Is it really true that Charles said he wanted to be Camilla's tampon?

Cariad007 · 12/03/2014 14:07

Unfortunately yes.
www.textfiles.com/phreak/camilla.txt

PatrickStarisabadbellend · 12/03/2014 14:29

he's as much use as a used tampon though.

gertiegusset · 12/03/2014 17:28

Sadly and embarrassingly it is true.

What a guy, and he wants to be king.

Onesleeptillwembley · 12/03/2014 17:35

He's still a better option than William and the lazy bint he married.

Nancy66 · 12/03/2014 17:46

if the queen never abdicates and lives for another 10 years then I can see Charles not making it to the throne.

LCHammer · 12/03/2014 18:21

So Liz has two options, really.

gertiegusset · 12/03/2014 18:27

I wonder if she's allowed to actually dismantle the monarchy... Grin

LCHammer · 12/03/2014 18:34

She can ask permission of herself. If Charles talks to trees I'm sure Liz could conference with a mirror.

fideline · 12/03/2014 19:47

Gertie his wanting or not wanting to be King is rather beside the point. It's not as if he has a free choice to either form that ambition or pursue something else entirely.
