To ask if you always pick up after your dog?

I was just out walking with my toddler. We were in a big park which contains a playground. It's popular with dog walkers and parents with young children. There are dog poo bins and signs up everywhere saying that you get a £100 fine for not picking up after your dog.

A couple of middle-aged, respectable looking women paused up ahead while their dog shat next to the path. They saw that their dog was pooing but when it finished they carried on walking. I shouted, 'aren't you going to pick that up' to which they looked at me like I was insane, ignored me and carried on walking.

IANBU here am I? Leaving your dog's poo in a park close to a playground where young children can easily step in it is unacceptable and disgusting isn't it? I'm not a dog owner so am I not understanding something?

I had a wonderful moment with my dog last year. He had the most profuse diarrhoea on a pavement on a warm day. I had doggy bags, but they're not going to get you anywhere with that. I looked around and saw that the Council had cut the grass on a green opposite. So I took massive handfuls of dry grass and basically mopped the poo up, scrubbed the pavement, then left a light layer of grass on top of the remaining stain. I think it took about 6 doggy bags. Not nice.

Dog diarrhoea gip Must remember this thread when dh does his bi-annual 'lets get a dog appeal'

DH was out with greyhound the other day, and she had just deposited an artistic heap - he was bending down with shit bags in hand to clear - when some woman called to him - "I hope you're going to pick that up" - what did she think he was doing? He told her he was picking daffodils, and she strode off all huffy. Seriously though it's hateful when it's not picked up. However there is a school near us, and many of the mums leave the deposits their dogs do. Nasty.

I can usually predict diahorrea from the dog and I take a bottle of water and some tissues/kitchen roll out when it's going to be one of those days.

There was a thread on this a while back with a few non pick up justifiers iirc. Yuck.

I love my dog but his sick and poo still make me boak.
