To find the beard quiff thing that most men are sporting at the moment utterly bizarre?

I know taste is a very subjective thing but I just can't understand this look that most guys between the ages of 20 and 35 are rocking at the moment. I get that it's "trendy" but do any women actually find it attractive?

Yes, I missed out the words 'used to' and 'some'! Still, I prefer it to the bland boy band look.

TrifleTower · 22/02/2014 23:10

Dont like the beard quiff. Reminds me of the lonely goatherds in Sound of Music

EllaFitzgerald · 23/02/2014 01:33

DH has had his for years. It's more lumberjack than quiff, I'm fairly sure he had a family of squirrels living in it at one point, and he's steadfastly refusing to cover himself in tattoos, but even so, it's lush. He doesn't look right without it now.

Cocolepew · 23/02/2014 13:40

Thats funny about Callum Best, George Best was the only beardy I ever liked.

Normalisavariantofcrazy · 23/02/2014 13:51

I take it you are all aware of the Canadian men's bobsleigh team?

NewtRipley · 23/02/2014 14:10

DH grew a beard about 6 years ago, following on from a Movember tache. Much to my surpriseI think he looks v hot with it. I live in Dickehead land though and it's a bit annoying that the trend is everywhere now. At least his bike has gears and his trousers reach the tops of his shoes.

The reason it is popular is that it makes blokes with undefined faces look more angular and macho.

NewtRipley · 23/02/2014 14:14

The beard/ tattoo thing is a bit serial killer, IMO.

DHs is more Geography teacher

MamOfSteel · 23/02/2014 14:17

DH has a big bushy beard, no tattoos and weird hair though. I love the beard. Big beard fan.

McFox · 23/02/2014 14:18

My DH is bearded, quiffed and tattooed - imo he is very hot! He is a media hipster type, he blends right in :)

MalcolmTuckersMistress · 23/02/2014 14:18

I really like a certain type of facial hair, but it does get to a point where it goes a but too Victorian. Also those beautifully angled metrosexual beards...NO. Long sculpted Beard with perfect short hair...NO.

Long wild hair and extra long stubble but not full beard...YES! (See musketeers thread)

Chottie · 23/02/2014 14:35

Sorry, no those beards remind me of unravelled bird's nests!!! I can imagine a weeks worth of breakfast lurking in there........

Ilovexmastime · 23/02/2014 14:42

I quite like the beards, not so keen on the quiff, and absolutely hate the rolled up trousers. I've told DH I will leave him if he ever rolls up his jeans.

ThreeBeeOneGee · 23/02/2014 14:50

I have not seen a single person in real life with this look, and until this thread I hadn't even seen one in a photo.

OP, are you sure you're not accidentally hanging out at BeardQuiffFest or BeardQuiffCon?

ThreeBeeOneGee · 23/02/2014 14:51

And I live within the M25, not on a remote island that only gets one ferry a week.

NewtRipley · 23/02/2014 14:52

ThreeBee

if you were to live near Dalston, Shoreditch, London Fields etc you would be v familiar with this look.

ThreeBeeOneGee · 23/02/2014 14:54

God no, I haven't been that far East since I was a student! Grin

ThreeBeeOneGee · 23/02/2014 14:56

Doe

NoArmaniNoPunani · 23/02/2014 14:56

Or Brighton

ThreeBeeOneGee · 23/02/2014 14:56

...s most of Mn live in the L B of Hackney then?

NewtRipley · 23/02/2014 14:57

ThreeBee

Yes, it's amazing how somewhere can turn from studentland to serious hipster hangout in a few short years/decades.

Lots of them have families too. You should see the queue for the trendy butchers of a Sunday. Ankles, beards, buggies and tats all round

Forago · 23/02/2014 14:57

My problem with the media hipster shoreditch incarnation of this is the rolled up trousers, which I think look fine, means they wear shoes with no socks, which I think is vile. At least the City ones still have to wear a (ridiculously too tight, blue) suit and so can wear socks with their (brown) brogues. I have seen some with a suit and no socks on though - vile!

NewtRipley · 23/02/2014 14:57

Sorry to sound sniify. I love it really.

ThreeBeeOneGee · 23/02/2014 14:58

Part of me wishes I hadn't sold that flat in Camberwell.

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 23/02/2014 14:59

I'm not complaining
I'm a self professed pogonophile and always have been
What I find weird is all the women who now profess to liking beards whereas a while back we were definitely in the minority. I can even find threads in here I've been on where we beard lovers were well outnumbered

takingthathometomomma · 23/02/2014 14:59

I quite like it
