To think that P&C spaces in supermarket car parks

AIBU to think that where there is a pedestrian pavement down the middle of a supermarket car park, it would make far more sense to have the parent and child parking in a well lit area further away from the entrance. This would mean that the spaces would not get clogged up by drivers without children too lazy to find a space, and in some car parks could be in an area with less traffic.

Ziggie, that's bloody hilarious!!!

I hate all this 'they won't shrink' shit Wink

ziggiestardust · 20/02/2014 16:13

Jesus... Grabby little sod will be expecting shoes in a minute...

MollyHooper · 20/02/2014 16:14

Is it just me or does it seem like P&C spaces have actually added to the stresses of some parents? People get so wound up and angry over them.

Before they existed people just got on with things. Now it's reporting people, starting arguments and counting disabled spaces!

Seems they are way more trouble than they are worth to everybody.

curiousgeorgie · 20/02/2014 16:16

Actually Molly, not sure if you've read the 250 posts...

They are very helpful to people who legitimately need them.

(And not people who just have a sore knee Wink)

notso · 20/02/2014 16:18

Where do you put your shopping then?
No wonder you experience so much bad parking, you must be down the supermarket everyday because your trolley is full of car seat not food.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 20/02/2014 16:19

They should be done away with completely, then people can stop comparing lifting their baby out of the car with being disabled and needing a disabled bayHmm

curiousgeorgie · 20/02/2014 16:19

I put the shopping in the back bit and at the side of the carseat... I probably go twice a week but don't buy loads because we probably eat out 50% of the time.

I don't have another choice, my DD can't walk around the supermarket and my baby is too small for sitting in the seat.

I agree Molly

ziggiestardust · 20/02/2014 16:22

dame no one has made that comparison at all. Have you read the thread?

People are saying they want more p&c whether is be due to fear of causing damage to other cars, more space for wielding a buggy, multiple children, safety... Someone then said it wasn't a space issue because look how many disabled bays there are, so surely more p&c could be provided... And now this.

It's constantly a contest on here; I'm worse off than you, I'm more disabled, I'm poorer than you... Bloody hell.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 20/02/2014 16:22

I've read all of the thread thanks, and contributed. Thanks very much dearSmile

curiousgeorgie · 20/02/2014 16:23

Then why do you have absolutely no idea of its subject matter?

notso · 20/02/2014 16:25

Maybe you should ask your supermarket to get some of those trolleys with the small baby seats.

curiousgeorgie · 20/02/2014 16:26

Then it doesn't leave a lot of room for my 3 year old....

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 20/02/2014 16:27

The subject matter = I NEED a p and c space.

No, the only people that need spaces are blue badge holders or people for example who would find it next to impossible to park further away from the door.

P and c spaces are a luxury/convenient nothing more.

Sirzy · 20/02/2014 16:27

why? they have a baby seat and then a child seat

curiousgeorgie · 20/02/2014 16:28

Oh, I see.

If you hadn't read the thread why didn't you just say.

Just the OP will help you? It's very little effort really.

Sirzy · 20/02/2014 16:28

Exactly Dame. I do think SOME people are now too reliant on them and it almost creates helplessness and an inability to realise that it is perfectly possible to park in any space when you have children

curiousgeorgie · 20/02/2014 16:28

Because my DD is 3, nearly 4, so her legs get a bit uncomfortable in the smaller seats.

IamInvisible · 20/02/2014 16:29

Christ on a rubber bike! There has to be something seriously amiss with someone who is so petty that report someone over the perceived misuse of a Parent and Child space!

I am a Blue Badge holder. I can tell you as a fact that disabled spaces are rarely empty. You may think they are, but in reality when you need, not want, one you can not always find one. Round here they are like hen's teeth!

I think P&C should be done away with. They cause far too much angst, they make people think they can't cope if they aren't there, when actually you can!

We managed without, even when I was wheelchair bound by SPD and had a toddler, and when we had a baby, toddler and me on crutches.

curiousgeorgie · 20/02/2014 16:30

Well, it makes my life a lot harder not to have one, and a lot of people have the same experience.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 20/02/2014 16:30

Curious- I've read the thread, as I said beforeSmile

I've also read the OPSmile

I don't agree with you, that's allSmile

ClaudiusGalen · 20/02/2014 16:31

It is learned helplessness isn't it. It's nice to have the space, becomes I need the space, becomes I can't cope without the space, becomes my need is so much greater than someone on crutches...

curiousgeorgie · 20/02/2014 16:31

But Dame, you're fighting something that isn't what the thread is about Confused

You see my confusion.

notso · 20/02/2014 16:32

They have them with a seat for toddler and a small baby seat side by side. I don't think I have been to a supermarket without them, but I'm sure they would get one if you asked, my local Tesco got one for triplets and one for twins and a toddler for Mums who asked.
