I know I should've been minding my own business, but this lady was talking so loudly in a tiny restaurant that I couldn't help but hear.

Two couples sat together. Couple A and B.
Woman A: "We are not telling his daughters that we are buying a house. At this age they repeat everything to their mum and we can't have her knowing"
Woman B: "Why can't she know?"
Man A: "Because everytime she thinks I have more money, she gets the CSA involved and I end up having to pay her more for the kids"

AIBU to find this attitude really depressing?

I love how all PWC are saints and all NRPs are selfish Hmm

Perhaps his ex uses the CSA as a tool, many do along with children as pawns. There are many PWC on benefits not contributing anything financially to their own child yet slating the NRP for not handing over every penny they earn, double standards are rife in that area.

Yes, some NRP dont pay but you cant possibly know from that he is one of them just be eaves dropping on one conversation.

"Monetbyhimself" et al

THAT'S the saddest thing.

the "saddest" thing is the automatic assumption, based on a single piece of overheard convocation, that the bloke must be a bastard.

the second saddest thing is the direct jump to FFJ and the second wives comment to belittle anyone that doesn't agree with RPs are saints.

"you cant possibly know from that he is one of them just be eaves dropping on one conversation."

Yes you can.

If the statement, ‘Every time my ex contacts the CSA, I have to pay more’ is true, then the person talking, regardless of gender, is paying less than the CSA minimum for their income.

I mean, I know we can’t all be Sherlock Holmes, but some of you are falling short of Watson’s powers.

there are ALWAYS two sides in situations like this.

Maybe the mother is like my DBros ex - gets a sniff that hes got a rare bonus of a few hundred shitty pounds and then demands all of it because the kids really really want a PS4 because they are bored with their Wii, XBox and PS3 Hmm

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 18/02/2014 13:29

...which would have nothing to do with the CSA.

BoneyBackJefferson · 18/02/2014 15:14

boulevard

the full quote of the quote is "Because everytime she thinks I have more money, she gets the CSA involved and I end up having to pay her more for the kids"

I think that given that this would be a "private" moan to his friends that this is not entirely the truth, But I also know women that as soon as they get a sniff that their ex has had any extra money will threaten going to the CSA.

In fact my friends Ex did go back to the CSA and ended up with considerably less. (The money that she would have received is either spent directly on the child or goes in to a bank account for when she leaves school)

Boney can you see how from the words he said it implies that everytime in the past that she thought he had more money it turned out he did? So you could understand why if she was to think he had more money this time she would feel justified in calling CSA as everytime previously she had been right.

BoneyBackJefferson · 18/02/2014 17:04

And it could equally be said that she contacts the CSA every time she thinks that he has more money. We don't know that she has been right every time either.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 18/02/2014 17:06

Well we do because he says he ends up paying more- which wouldnt happen if cSA didnt find him to be earning more.

pixiepotter · 18/02/2014 17:10

it's just pub talk.Their mother will find out soon enough won't she?
