To give up on Breaking Bad on the middle of Season 5?

I tried to enjoy it / bore with it at the start, got into it before first season was out and am now bored - having found it difficult to focus ok it without doing two things at once --reading magazines, face booking, MNing (hence missing important story-threads).

Rumbelina- Sorry I meant series 4 and 5, I wish there was a 6th series though (I'm sure they could have churned another one out).Looking forward to the" Call Saul" spin off, but not sure when it will appear in UK

GoodnessKnows · 17/02/2014 20:09

Strawdolly - hahaha
I'm watchin' dude!

Just watched the last episode.

Hmm, after the last two I was expecting more.

It maybe that it requires a second viewing as I had to explain to DP along the way as he'd not watched any of the show but wanted to sit in on me and DS as we did ( fed up being excluded from incessant BB conversation methinks!)

Hooe OP continued and has now finished series.

doglover33 · 25/02/2014 09:45

yabu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ijustwanttobeme · 25/02/2014 10:02

Doglover.. I know I know...am going to watch it again, as explaining who this was and that was to DP was a bit of a distraction!

Thought bit with Jesse and the box flashback was one of the most moving bits of BB.

Crowler · 25/02/2014 10:03

YABVVVVVU.

Hope you're feeling better. Cake

McSmoke · 25/02/2014 10:20

I too am struggling through BB. Am in the middle of series 3 and find it overrated so far. Mind you I am a rebellious soul and recomended programmes and films never live up to expectations. I usually need to discover a programme rather than have it recomended for me to enjoy it.

waceystills · 25/02/2014 10:54

Laregina - YES you should persevere with The Wire!

Idris is a central character and is in it a lot. Each season is about something different though - the ship yard, the press, drugs and politics, but characters and story lines cross over.

You have to pay close attention to each episode.

Best box set ever IMO. (Closely followed by Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones & Battlestar Galactica)

MarmaladeShatkins · 25/02/2014 10:56

YABU!

Finish it, BITCH! Grin

Seriously, it is so worth it.

laregina · 25/02/2014 11:36

Thanks wacey - I will give it another go then. I have a huge BB shaped hole to fill Sad

Ijustwant I do agree with you to some extent re the last BB episode - the ones leading up to it were so good that (IMO) the last one was a little bit of a disappointment - there were all sorts of scenarios for the ending that I would have loved to have seen that didn't happen - but it was still better than most other things on tv....

Shoopshoop2 · 25/02/2014 11:49

I gave up on The Wire when it became too political for me. The second half of Breaking Bad,season 5, is brilliant. The Shield is gripping, every episode.

laregina · 25/02/2014 11:52

What's The Shield? I've not heard of it...

Shoopshoop2 · 25/02/2014 12:14

www.imdb.com/title/tt0286486/ Smile

minouminou · 25/02/2014 13:03

I quailed and baulked (at the same time) when DP gave me the premise of BrBa....but when I saw Walt running out into the desert in his undercrackers and gas mask, with the two Mexicans rattling around in the back of his RV....that was it.

We finished the series in November and I still miss it.

minouminou · 25/02/2014 13:05

...and OP...

Tell your douchebag magazines to head towards the bin!

Ha ha!

chicaguapa · 25/02/2014 13:11

I gave up on BB in the first episode. I think I just didn't get it. I didn't like the old guy at all and wanted to give him a shake. The scene with him making the meth in his pants in the trailer made me switch off.

Whereas I loved The Wire, even though I had to watch it with subtitles.

Ellisisland · 25/02/2014 14:32

For anyone who has run out if great tv shows to watch check out True Detective with Woody Harrelson. Started in sky Atlantic last week and it is brilliant. There are only 8 episodes I think and then there are no plans for a second series. It's soooo good. Very dark but brilliant.

ijustwanttobeme · 25/02/2014 20:24

Aaron Paul on Graham Norton this Friday. I wonder how much they'll touch on BB, or if it's gonna be all about his new film.

Do you think we'll get to see the Saul prequel on UK TV?

As others have said, The Wire is excellent. However it never affected me so much that I was you tubing and googling the actors, watching all the special features on the DVDs, checking various fan forums etc.

So in my mind BB is the best ever TV series in the history of TV- so there :)

Shoopshoop2 · 25/02/2014 20:30

Ellis, thanks for that, Matthew Mac too!
Other watchables are Dexter(could skip season 6) and Boardwalk Empire,a faultless series(apart from his weedy wife) Smile

Crowler · 25/02/2014 20:41

For anyone who has run out if great tv shows to watch check out True Detective with Woody Harrelson.

Yes yes yes.

LordPalmerston · 25/02/2014 20:42

ah now I almost did on the last season

plus i found the last episodes way too drawn out

ahlahktuhflomp · 25/02/2014 20:58

BCS will doubtless be broadcast here, although I will probably watch it on computer with DP.

BB is one of the best written TV series of the last 20 years or so.

GoldenGytha · 25/02/2014 21:19

What's Breaking Bad about?

I have never watched a single episode, but then I have never watched any of these "must see" things apart from Game of Thrones.

Hotmad · 25/02/2014 21:23

Breaking bad is one of the best shows ever, I also loved sopranos and currently the walking dead. I'm going to try the wire as many say it's fantastic too....
For comedy though I absolutely love modern family, soooooo funny, I love Phil!

TimothyClaypoleLover · 25/02/2014 21:29

oh god, definitely finish watching if you have got this far. I took a while to get into BB, mainly because I couldn't stand the Walter White character and the finale was a little unsatisfactory. But many of the episodes were pure genius and a couple had me weeping for days they were so hard hitting. Absolutely loved Fring and his revenge on the drugs cartel!
