about DH calling breastfeeding "titty"?

DS2 (5 months) is breastfed.

When I talk about it to DS1/2, I call it milk, i.e.

"Would DS2 like some milk" or "DS2 is having his milk"

DH, on the other hand, insists on calling it titty. His usual response to me asking him to call it milk is to say "DS2 is having milk from the titty".

I am getting more and more annoyed about DH's refusal to stop calling it titty.

For starters, I call it milk because that's what DS2 is actually drinking, but more importantly, I really don't want DS1 to get it into his head that it's fine to use the term "titty" for DS2 breastfeeding. DS1 is only 2.5yrs old, and I don't want to be in the sitution where I'm trying to breastfeed DS2 discreetly in public, and have DS1 yelling "TITTY!" at the top of his voice.

DH thinks that I'm being ridiculously oversensitive about this. AIBU?

Whether others think you are being reasonable or not. The fact is, you don't like him using the term and you find it offensive. Youve asked him to stop and that should be enough.

Bogeyface · 15/02/2014 15:34

"DS is having milk from titty"

"Oh, you are feeding him then? Cos the only tit I can see in this room is you!"

mummymeister · 15/02/2014 15:38

i don't like it but would like it even less when your eldest starts saying it because they will and usually when it is the most inappropriate time. if your DH wont do it because you ask then please remind him what parrots little ones are.

Was just about to post the same comment as Purple

frogslegs35 · 15/02/2014 15:50

Yanbu!
He sounds like an idiot.

MadIsTheNewNormal · 15/02/2014 15:56

It's a bloody awful word and I don't think I could be with a man that said it.

I have no objection to breasts being referred to as tits however, when talking informally.

anothernumberone · 15/02/2014 15:59

Definitely not unreasonable. My ds calls bf boobie and I only have myself to blame. He is bf at 2 and regularly mortifies me by asking for boobie really loudly. I have learned the hard way that milk is what I should have called it.

Chivetalking · 15/02/2014 16:40

Horrible term, absolutely but apart from that you've asked him to stop and he won't?

Is he normally such an arse?

Only1scoop · 15/02/2014 16:42

Ear bleach required for you Confused

Tell him to stop

Truly just vile

YourHandInMyHand · 15/02/2014 16:43

What a prat!

SomethingProfound · 15/02/2014 16:46

YADNBU!

He is being a twat!

thegreatgatsby101 · 15/02/2014 16:47

No, you are not being unreasonable.
Sounds so childish!

pointythings · 15/02/2014 17:19

It's horrible and disrespectful, especially after you've already asked him to stop it. I'd be having words.

LadyCelia · 15/02/2014 18:14

YANBU. Your DH sounds like a teenager - just ignore him & maybe he'll stop doing it when he doesn't get a reaction from you.

IShallCallYouSquishy · 15/02/2014 18:27

YANBU! There was an occasion where I was settling down to feed DD, DH had hold of her while I got comfy and he said "come on mummy get your tits out"

It was the first and last time that ever came from his mouth after a bit of a talking to!

We ended up saying "num nums/mummy num nums" which yes is a bit sickening but was normally at home so not end of the world!

ElleCloughie · 15/02/2014 19:57

YADNBU. I would go mad if DH said that.

MrsCaptainReynolds · 15/02/2014 20:09

The word is irrelevant. He should simply have more respect and not continue to use any word you ask him not to, when it comes to your body.

Can I suggest you start referring to his penis as "the whelk"? Every time he's going to the loo when you're out, have the children shout "Daddy's gone to drain his little whelk!"

CoffeeTea103 · 15/02/2014 20:12

Yanbu, it sounds cheap, disrespectful and seriously awful.
