Yorkshireman flees jail because it is in Lancashire

I suppose that is an assertive decision...

I infinitely prefer Lancastrians to their needlessly belligerent, superiority complex sporting, tight fisted, opinionated, parochial cousins from the other side of the pennines.

If you want to sre all these characteristics embodied in one man , check out their spiritual guru Geoff Boycott.

diaimchlo · 14/02/2014 07:15

Born and bred Lancashire and proud. Lived down south for a couple of years and couldn't wait to come home, where people acknowledge others with warm hearts unlike Southerners.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 14/02/2014 08:06

To answer the actual question, no, there isn't anything wrong with Lancashire. My mother was born/bred in Fylde.

I was born in the West Riding however...

jacks365 · 14/02/2014 09:15

Living here on the border I get the best of both worlds but I'm Lancashire born and bred.

sashh · 14/02/2014 09:45

There is nowt wrong with many parts of Lancashire.

However, as a child of Yorkshire missionaries, I had to endure Burnley. There is a lot wrong with Burnley.

There is a reason other Lancastrians refer to it as Dingleland.

ClaudiusGalen · 14/02/2014 11:41

Lancaster looks down on Preston, Preston looks down on Blackburn, Blackburn looks down on Burnley and Burnley looks down on Rossendale as almost being Yorkshire.

Pedallleur · 14/02/2014 12:42

Let us not forget that the highest percentage of Ferrari owners outside of Central London is here in the NW of England and HM the Queen owns 20,000 acres of beautiful Lancashire at Dunsop Bridge so no problems with money here. Any floods here? Lancs has beautiful villages/towns/food/people (as does Yorkshire) but it's just...better.

canyourearme · 14/02/2014 13:41

I lived in lancs for years, now live down south which is far better all round.

ErrolTheDragon · 14/02/2014 16:37

Shockers - I'm only near a canal. But we walk quite a lot here and there.Smile

Rossendale beats everywhere else in either county for being a rare place where you can both sail and windsurf.

I've got a good friend who lives in Rossendale... her house looks out over the most stunning landscape.

SwimmingClose · 14/02/2014 17:58

But :-

  1. Are Lancashire men better looking?
  1. Yorkshire or Lancashire - which has the better sense of humour?!

A Southerner.

Shockers · 14/02/2014 19:25

Now you're asking... DH was born in Yorkshire. He was brought up in Lancs though, so we've sorted him out Wink.

iloveaglassofwine · 14/02/2014 19:32

Yorkshire lass here married to a lancashire lad, now living in Cheshire so unsure on where I stand in this, er debate. South Yorkshire accent rocks, especially if it's Sean Bean doing the talking Grin

JadziaSnax · 14/02/2014 19:53

Proud Lancastrian here! I live on the border and work right at the other side of the county so get to see Lancashire in all it's glory on my daily commute. The views between Rossendale and Blackburn can be amazing when it's not pissing down

Sillysarah49 · 14/02/2014 19:54

Born and brought up in Cheshire, which was very nice. Moved to Lancashire about 25 years ago which is also nice. Pretty much everyone I have met from Yorkshire has been a psychopath.

JadziaSnax · 14/02/2014 19:56

To be fair, Yorkshire has some of the most beautiful countryside too.

CerealMom · 14/02/2014 20:34

I ran away from Chorley.
