To dread flying because of my size?

I am going on holiday in a few days. I should be really happy but the flight is really making me not want to go.

I flew last year and needed a belt extension which was fine, wasn't much of a problem, but the thing that petrifies me most is that DP and I won't be able to sit together and if I end up sitting next to a nasty person who is ' a fat-phobe' and huffs and puffs at me the whole 3 hours for taking up more than my (tiny) seat space. I am flying with Monarch who are notorius for their tiny seats. I am a size 26 btw.

You just can't accept that most people think you are wrong shatz.

I don't think she's wrong. I think she's a little bit bonkers and can't construct an argument that I can actually understand!

Be charming, it may get you there... or buy two seats. I'm not charming so would have to flash the plastic. I let a man rest his arms on my boobs for a whole hour... he was charming, I think. Blush

Koalaface I'm using the Rimmel one, it's pretty good, no bendy wand, it's sturdy and the brush is sectioned to deliver maximum mascara whilst giving your eyelashes a good run through. It does exactly what it says it does, fab!

Now... can we get back to Mallory Towers and St Clare's, do you think? It's gone too fighty in here for me with people who are so angry that they've quite left their sense of reason behind on the plane. Confused

What, so if you can't afford business class long haul flight, you shouldn't go at all just in case someone overweight needs to encroach on your space and you might have the audacity to mind? Economy flights to Australia aren't exactly 'on the cheap' anyway are they?

No. I wouldn't book a non-business class flight to Australia because I have ankylosing spondylitis and would need all the space I could get to allow me to move around and change position. Actually I probably wouldn't go to Australia because the flight would be torture for me.

My point, which you seem to have inverted, was that if I were overweight to the point that I encroached onto another passenger's seat I wouldn't go unless I could afford two seats or business class. I'd know that I wouldn't fit in one seat so I'd have to accept that the flight will cost me more. I'm not overweight but my condition means that I wouldn't be able to cope with being cooped up in a small space for so long so I accept that long distance flights will cost me more (and factor this into decision making re: affordability).

We've just booked to go to on holiday next week and I am dreading the flight. 4.5 hours will not be pleasant. I'm going to the GPs for additional painkillers tomorrow. DH will have to entertain DS2 as I'll be doped up on opiates. And he's not getting the aisle seat either! I'm having to psyche myself up for it.
