Not to go to London tomorrow?

Live in the north so arrive into Euston- afaik the tube strike is still on. It's lashing it down here- don't know what it's like in London at the moment. My teenager is sick, not desperately ill but off school. It's a five hour meeting- I think the expectation is that I can get to the financial district by walking- three miles , absolutely not an issue in good weather but if its anything like this? Am I being a mard arse?

I did feel insulted. I believe any of our SE colleagues point blank refused to come to mcr last week due to the strikes. Also whilst I can make a 9am London
Meeting without an issue - they would throw a fit if we scheduled one here for the same time!

BBC have just reported that RMT have also suspended the strike.

Lottiedoubtie · 11/02/2014 12:52

Strikes off!

Roshbegosh · 11/02/2014 14:05

Obviously stanley I would not have said this if the OP had been in the south west. Don't be ridiculous. She said she was in the north and didn't want to come to London because she would have to join the thousands of Londoners struggling and it was raining. I was focusing on the relevant issues and if you think that merits being told to fuck off well, that is your prerogative.

Southeastdweller · 11/02/2014 16:18

Roshbegosh Utterly ridiculous comments from you this morning. How ignorant are you?

softlysoftly · 11/02/2014 17:45

OK so you aren't writing off the South West just the lazy work shy Northerners then? Thats ok I retract my fuck off.

Oh hang on, no I don't.

Have a big fuck off from an ex Yorkshire girl, living in wales, running a business in the South West and working my arse off for a midlands based company running their marketing from London.

Elderberri · 11/02/2014 17:51

We all know the north is full of work shy, cocklodgering, Luddites.

I am northern.

JeanSeberg · 11/02/2014 18:05

Shouldn't you be feeding your pigeons Elder?

bigbarns · 11/02/2014 18:15

roshbegosh I have to agree with previous posters - ignorant and goady comments from you.

Elderberri · 11/02/2014 18:47

Eating pigeon pie as bedroom tax has taken money for food.

I told the DC, do you really want food over sky, fags n booze.

Today we had a lovely day, we watched tv all day with the curtains closed.

AuntieStella · 11/02/2014 21:12

Roshbegosh: OP's sick child not relevant factor then? For I read that as the reason she was concerned about the likely strike-day extra time (beyond that she had already planned for).

LaGuardia · 11/02/2014 21:14

The tube strike has been cancelled. London will be as normal. A dirty, crowded, miserable shithole. Good luck.

DIddled · 11/02/2014 22:30

It was the getting back home with no tube I was concerned about- I simply had to get back to allow my DH to get to work- plus I was understandably worried about being so far from my son when he is ill- my husband is largely in contactable in working hours. So far from ideal. Anyway they saw sense and rearranged.

thanks for your opinions
