The prospect of a £12,000 wedding is very appealing.
But what would be letting myself in for?!
(what would your other half do?)
I'm not particularly demanding (though I'd probably have to pretend to be for the show)... what's the worst that could happen?

(OH is into motorcycles, ACDC and his godawful "rock" band)

(if anyone has any experience in applying please PM me - all I have is a "to apply email this address" no guidance)

Apply for the show but take shopping etc & indoctrinate him in your taste beforehand so he knows what you like. Hopefully there wont be many shocks and his hobbies can be a subtle rather than the main influence!

Kt1991 · 31/01/2014 08:41

We applied for it and was so frustrating cause my DH (DP obviously at the time!) missed the bloody call! When he tried to call back he couldn't get through to him, so it seems they had already chosen another couple. :( But we got married last year after planning it all myself so not too disappointed! But thinking about it now I dread to think what it would of been like! You should go for it though!

birdbrain21 · 31/01/2014 09:08

dontcall definately lots of big colourful feather! Anyone else joining us?
Was going to attach some great choices but can't upload photos to aibu

BigW · 31/01/2014 09:25

Yes, mumsnet hat sounds amazing. We'll get the folks over at the craft bit to crochet us some flowers to stick on and we can have YABVU written a cross the back in glitter! Grin

UriGeller · 31/01/2014 09:28

You have to HATE the dress and cry but then you try it on and show your mum and she cries and says you look beautiful and the you cry and then you LOVE it.

Thems the rules. Grin

DejaVuAllOverAgain · 31/01/2014 09:36

Ooh, I could go a mumsnet hat Grin I'm in.

birdbrain21 · 31/01/2014 09:55

objection we're all excited about our hats now you have to apply! Grin

Funnily enough, I run a small business outside of my normal jobs where I design wedding accessories - such as hats and headpieces!

I have made a quick sketch (i'm at work so its crap and on my phone, so don't judge!).
What say you all for my proposal for the Mumsnet Hat?
Does it need anything else?

DH planned our wedding. I had no interest and he did. He did a great job. I did choose my dress though, thank god he had tried dress shopping for me since and he has not done well. The wedding was a triumph everyone loved it.

BigW · 31/01/2014 16:04

love the hat, but I am a bit disappointed that the glittery YABVU didn't make the cut. Some people have no taste.

sweetkitty · 31/01/2014 16:05

I quite fancy going on this but DP hates spending money on things he doesn't consider essential he would think £500 for a dress would be a waste of money, my ideal would've to get married in a registery office then spend the rest going on holiday with the DCs.

DD1 wants to plan out wedding, think Big Fat Gypsy Weddings and your there Grin

Elderberri · 31/01/2014 16:06

The men on that programme are selfish knobs.

Ffs....the one who stagged in Las Vegas

Ffs. The one who got married on muscle beach in honour of his UNCLE.

Ffs the one who booked las Vegas and only the bride and her parents could go, brothers and sisters sobbing after he and his mate had stagged for a WEEK.

The one who had a civil ceremony in the ok, left the bride at home on her wedding night to fly out to Ibiza to organise a blessing.

No, no and no.....men planning weddings is risky business.

I am sure they are encouraged to be stupid by production team .

Elderberri · 31/01/2014 16:07

Civil service in the uk.

squoosh · 31/01/2014 16:09

'The one who got married on muscle beach in honour of his UNCLE.'

That was so tacky and so grim.

Elderberri · 31/01/2014 16:16

The worst is it's legally binding. If you don't follow through you have to pay it back by this time the groom has poised half of it up the wall in Las Vegas .

The bride who had to leave all her family except her parents, she did not have a bridesmaid, but he had a best man, she came close to not going, she looked bloody miserable. Poor girl.

Elderberri · 31/01/2014 16:17

Pissed...bloody spell check.

squoosh · 31/01/2014 16:21

I believe the Vegas couple later divorced. Not a surprise really.

BigW · 31/01/2014 16:28

Was that the one where they were all in floods of tears and she was refusing to get on the plane? I couldn't believe it when she agreed to go. obviously she had no choice.

ThisIsMyRealName · 31/01/2014 22:00

Dejavue has the show summed up!

I think you should do it so we can all judge enjoy it Grin

Did the vegas couple get divorced? Can't say i'm that surprised. He acted like a complete arse.

MyfavcolourisOrange · 31/01/2014 22:08

I did it Smile

PM me your questions and I'll answer when I can...I've got a 12 week old who hasn't quite grasped how to go to sleep yet! Hmm

Fairy1303 · 31/01/2014 22:14

We applied and had the phone interview but I think we were too boring (at the time!) do it!!

birdbrain21 · 01/02/2014 22:21

I love the hat think the flowers should be a bit bigger and more colourful though!
