Honestly my 2 month old DD does a poo about once or twice a day and every poo she does is like ginormous!!! It leaks out the side and up the back too!
I started with pampers but thought they were rubbish and now using boots ones but still they leak, is it the nappies or is it my daughters mega poo explosions that are too big for any nappy to cope?? I'm thinking I could double nappy her? Or get some brown tape for the edges Wink

My DS uses Pampers Baby Dry but I've heard they are better for boys and friends with girls have used Pampers Baby Active.

Hotmad · 26/01/2014 18:01

Ah ok I'm not sure of the pampers I tried, must of been the new baby ones.....
Also, she does makes me laugh when she poos though, she pushes so hard her face is a picture :)

Sometimes the childs build suits some nappies better than others so just keep trying different ones.

DoJo · 26/01/2014 18:54

I tried just about every nappy on the market, and there simply was no way to contain my son's poo - the force, consistency and volume of the poo was too much for any containment system, so I just had to resign myself to carrying spare clothes everywhere we went (and I also had a wet flannel in a zip lock back just in case of emergencies). Oh, and my son used to do those kinds of poos about 5 times a day, if that makes you feel any better?

DoJo · 26/01/2014 18:55

zip lock bag

Hotmad · 26/01/2014 18:55

Wonder why huggies stopped making little baby nappies, my friend told me they were the best

Moved onto washables and they honestly coped better!

TallGiraffe · 26/01/2014 18:56

Have you tried / thought about cloth nappies? We've never had an explosion out of one.

SliceOfLime · 26/01/2014 18:59

Have you thought of trying washable nappies? They are a lot better at containing poosplosions (plus you save money!) A two-part nappy is the best at containment, where you put on the nappy made of cotton / bamboo / microfibre and then a separate waterproof cover over the top. Tots Bots bamboozle stretch nappies with a Bummis waterproof cover (wrap) are a great combination.

MrsNutella · 26/01/2014 18:59

Washables have been awesome at containing poo-splosions here. I think because the leg and back are nicely elastic they catch it and keep it in rather than letting it leak.

Although I do understand they are not for everyone - I love them!

SliceOfLime · 26/01/2014 19:00

Cross post with Random and Giraffe! Smile

MrsNutella · 26/01/2014 19:00

Haha mega washable nappy cross post! Grin

PedlarsSpanner · 26/01/2014 19:04

lovely to see these washable x posts [thumbs up]

OP make sure that the leg cuffs are furled out

and

did you know that envelope neck baby popper vests go off downwards, over the bottom, rather than upwards depositing poo behind ears and on head?

ReticulatingSplines · 26/01/2014 19:04

I posted about this a couple of months ago. My DD is now 5 months and only has a poo-explosion about once every 48 hours. So it does get better! I've given up on expensive nappies and now buy the cheap ones from Tesco that come in a 1 month's supply box. I do buy them on the big side though which seems to help.

Hotmad · 26/01/2014 19:06

To be honest I would try washable nappies but it's hard keeping on top of current washing load plus drying as we don't have a dryer..... And dojo wow 4 or 5 times a day!! That must of been tricky to say the least!

Aldi nappies are honestly brilliant

SliceOfLime · 26/01/2014 19:10

Hotmad if you are thinking of trying washable nappies, if you're on Facebook, search for 'UK Cloth Nappy Libraries", a page should come up with a map of all the nappy libraries in the UK who give advice on the different types of nappies and lend out trial kits so you can see how you get on with them before buying your own. If you're not on fb but want to find a nappy library PM me and I will help you out Smile Otherwise I hope the exploding poos stop soon! As soon as they're on solids at 6 months the poos get a lot more manageable... Smile

Pumpkin567 · 26/01/2014 19:15

Aldi. They never leak we tried them all.

Sure they won some awards.

Waltonswatcher1 · 26/01/2014 19:15

Pedlars - I never thought if that ! Wish someone had enlightened me 14 years and three loose pooed babies ago.

redcaryellowcar · 26/01/2014 19:17

i would suggest you try next size up, if possible, i used huggies nappies when ds was small but as no longer available we use aldi which are cheap and very good. not sure how well they work for tiny babies, but perhaps worth a try?

sunshinesue · 26/01/2014 19:17

Don't know if you've tried using nappies that are officially "too big"? I had a much better time when I switched up a size when ds was a pound or so under the "minimum"

Hotmad · 26/01/2014 19:25

Ah ok that mite work going a size up as I do think she is nearing the upper weight of the current size

Tesco nappies were the only ones that didn't leak for my long baby.
How about washable cover over disposable, bambino mio are good for that?

FudgeyCookie · 26/01/2014 19:52

I used aldi for a long time then they started to leak, and now use cheeky bots from Tesco. They are on offer at the moment for £15 a box

Frigintinsella · 26/01/2014 20:08

My favourite is pampers activefit but you get a few more nappies with babydry and they are just as good really! These were definitely the best during the explosive poo phase although I never did find any that were completely successful (at least 1-2 sets of mucky clothes a week with my fabourites)
Now DS tends to have solid poos (and so he should at 14 months Smile ) I will revisit the cheaper brands that werent an option back then.
