My first AIBU so I'm easing myself in Grin. AIBU that 'posh' cordial or squash tastes vile? I've tried a few now; Belvoir and one called Rock or something but I've poured of it down the sink. I persevered for a while as I didn't want to waste it but then I thought that life was too short to force myself to drink that stuff and have put it down to experience. Give me good old Robinsons any day!

Some of it does. However, I remember having a Bottlegreen summer fruits that was simply divine!

Iwannalaylikethisforever · 10/01/2014 09:15

Water water water water water anyday
Even worse, is the vile "stevia" leaf extract being used as a natural sweetner.
Disgusting.

LadyGreenTea · 10/01/2014 09:16

Oooh, we used to have Rock orange, lovely. Got Belvoir atm, deeeelish (esp added to a g&t!) Always have some elderflower cordial in the house.

YANBU, it's just a matter of taste and you like something different.

JeanSeberg · 10/01/2014 09:16

Aldi squash any day of the week!

hallowisitmeyourelookingfor · 10/01/2014 09:41

YANBU, the ones I've tried have been gross - elderflower cordial?? It tastes like bush juice :(
I'll have a Ribena over plant smush drinks thankyou very much!

DidoTheDodo · 10/01/2014 09:43

I like Bottlegreen elderflower cordial.

dexter73 · 10/01/2014 09:43

I like elderflower cordial and lime cordial (not really posh as it is 65p a bottle. Ribena is my favourite.

Joysmum · 10/01/2014 09:59

The cheaper ones tend to have more sugar or sweeteners in them.

skillsandtea · 10/01/2014 10:01

Actually, I do like the Bottlegreen Elderflower so it's not all bad I suppose.

Especially with gin!

Bottle green elderflower one and ginger and lemon grass are amazing!
The only squash i like is robinsons peach. Or orange, just because it reminds me so much of my childhood!

WallyBantersJunkBox · 10/01/2014 10:03

DH always buys those French syrups in metal tins. No matter how much you stir it's like homeopathy at the top, and then a huge glugg of tooth aching syrup at the bottom.

I love a Robinsons Barley Water, me.

Elsiequadrille · 10/01/2014 10:04

Pixley Berries cordial is lovely.

Rocks and Belvoir is ok, but more to the children's taste. I wouldn't think to drink it.

IneedAsockamnesty · 10/01/2014 10:05

Wally I love those syrups

Whatisaweekend · 10/01/2014 10:05

Elderflower cordial with tap water = yuck.
Elderflower cordial with cold fizzy water = drink of the gods.

Elsiequadrille · 10/01/2014 10:08

I like elderflower cordial. But I don't think it varies much in taste from brand to brand.

BananaNotPeelingWell · 10/01/2014 10:09

Are you in France Wally or does your dh buy them in the uk? I've not seen them in this country. Dc love them and we bring always them back from France when we go. They are sooo sweet though. I'm sure they must be pretty bad for teeth. Dc like the minty bright green one which I think is vile.

My favourite favourite squash is Asda White Grape and Peach. It sounds posh but is just their own brand non posh squash. I do drink quite a bit of squash as I'm not a tea or coffee drinker, so I've tried a few in my time.

thegreylady · 10/01/2014 10:10

I love elderflower with San Pellegrino fizzy water. The rhubarb and ginger is lovely too.

BananaNotPeelingWell · 10/01/2014 10:14

Rhubarb and ginger sounds very nice. Where can I find that please Greylady? I'm always on the lookout for something new to drink. And I must start to cut back on the wine Blush

WallyBantersJunkBox · 10/01/2014 10:28

Banana - we buy them in French or Swiss supermarkets.

I've never quite understood the mint one either. DS and DH like a Fruits of the forest one which just tastes like weak perfume to me.

When I was younger I remember buying them on an exchange holiday and thinking they were great. Possibly because we were mixing with vodka and lemonade though. Blush

IneedAsockamnesty · 10/01/2014 10:34

Waitrose sell the syrups

lookatmybutt · 10/01/2014 10:51

I find the 'grown ups' cordials over here to be foul. Elderflower, blackcurrant (bleughcurrant), barley, etc. taste like liquified trees to me.

I had a lovely fresh apple and cinnamon cordial poured over crushed ice when I was on holiday in Japan and it was the most refreshing drink I ever had.

I haven't been able to find it over here - I think it was an Italian brand.

There's just not enough choice over here and everything is bitter and tastes of plants.

I end up getting Rubicon mango or watermelon juice a lot or Tropical Sun coconut water if I can find it.

I just want something sweet and refreshing, not like ground up bushes!

BananaNotPeelingWell · 10/01/2014 11:00

Thanks Wally - yes vodka will make anything more um..interestingSmile.

Thanks also Sock! I think on reflection we ought to keep them as a holiday treat. Whenever we bring bottles of the stuff back from France dc just plough through it and it's so sugary.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 10/01/2014 11:45

The French mint syrup is gorgeous with lemonade. Really refreshing.

Elderflower cordial with fizzy water is a great drink if you can't have alcohol for any reason. Much better than lemonade or coke.

fluffyraggies · 10/01/2014 12:18

What's wrong with me?!

I read the title as ''post coital''
