putting a baby in the oven??

phantomnamechanger · 05/01/2014 13:46

someone on my local fb selling group has listed a meat roasting dish, pictured in her oven with her BABY laid in it. Obviously the oven is not on! but the baby is a bit twisted to fit and does not look best pleased! Lots of people have called her on this saying it is inappropriate and reported to admin but she says it was just done to show the size of the tin (well unless you actually know the size of the baby, it doesn't really help!)

So just after yr opinion please MNers - is this flippin odd thing to do or perfectly OK??

Most people use a coin to demonstrate "scale".....?!

Primafacie · 05/01/2014 21:08

I'm with chrome!

parakeet · 05/01/2014 21:11

Oh lighten up. She was demonstrating the large size of the pot in a light-hearted way.

Should she have added a message to the effect that: "No babies were harmed during the making of this advert" ?

Bodypopper · 05/01/2014 21:11

No yeuk and scary the stuff of nightmares like baby crawling into a swimming pool or tumble dryer.

ocelot41 · 05/01/2014 21:11

Is it a gag about buns in the oven? Pretty poor taste.

jacks365 · 05/01/2014 21:18

I can't get worked up about this in theory however I didn't see the picture and if the baby was in obvious distress as the op suggests then yes it would annoy me

sparklythings01 · 05/01/2014 21:27

Very very odd!

sparklythings01 · 05/01/2014 21:27

Very very odd!

harriet247 · 05/01/2014 21:30

I would report that to social services. Theres something funny there..

LittleBabySqueakSqueak · 05/01/2014 21:31

I think it's funny as well. Doesn't mean I'd cook my baby.

snickers251 · 05/01/2014 21:35

It's spreading on fb with 12000 likes (you know those things like to slap mum share to save baby type pics)

I would never have thought it was from a selling page just some twat thinking they were funny

Either way ... Wrong!

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 05/01/2014 21:35

DP and his mate had a 'most random place you can settle a teeny baby' competition. His friend won. The baby was fast asleep in a wok.*

*No babies were harmed in the making of this fun. Grin

ShadowFall · 05/01/2014 21:40

Of course it's not ok. Sounds very uncomfortable for the baby too.

If you want to show how big something is, you use something like a ruler. Aside from the poor taste, it's not like babies are all the same size.

NinjaBunny · 05/01/2014 21:55

Can you post a link??

Primafacie · 05/01/2014 22:03

Did it look like this?

SashaOfSiberia · 05/01/2014 22:11

I think its funny. This is like those pictures you see online, and something that my DH would do to make me laugh.

It doesn't actually mean she's going to cook the baby. Wouldn't upset me at all.

Primafacie · 05/01/2014 22:18

Or more like this grown up version?

Although the baby won't come to any harm it does seem unnecessary and attention seeking to me. It reminds me of this story about a parent who was worried about leaving his baby with the grandparents so they made fun of him by taking a photo of the baby in the oven (includes photo).

QuintessentialShadows · 05/01/2014 22:34

The size of a baby is more variable than an oven, one should think... Hmm

MostWicked · 05/01/2014 22:36

A bit poor taste - like so many jokes are, but reportable to social services? Really?

No harm done, no potential risk of harm.

giggle78 · 05/01/2014 23:49

Its just silly.
And that should be the end of it really IMO.

gallicgirl · 05/01/2014 23:55

This made me shudder and I usually have a sick sense of humour.

A south African friend told me of an incident where an armed burglar put a baby into the oven and turned it on to extort money from the parents.

A responsible person wouldn't even consider anything so idiotic.
