Eat warm mince pies with Stilton while there are still mince pies in the shops / cupboard / secret stash. So good.

Sounds gross

BunnyLebowski · 04/01/2014 17:38

Oh god that nearly made me retch.

Stilton is lovely. Mince pies are hideous. The thought of the two together is heinous!

JourneyToThePlacentaOfTheEarth · 04/01/2014 17:39
Shock
indieakka · 04/01/2014 17:39

I hear you, but seriously, try it, it works (perhaps surprisingly).

Bleurgh.

Hopasholic · 04/01/2014 17:43

The only way I can stand to force a mince pie down is if it has a tub of brandy cream on it.

Have you been eating any other strange combinations? Coal & pickled onion sandwiches?

Crowler · 04/01/2014 17:43

I just can't understand mince pies.

Why?

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 04/01/2014 17:44

I love mince pies. But sweet and savoury together is just wrong.

MooMa1d · 04/01/2014 17:44

YABU - I'm on a diet Wink

Seriously though, sounds rank - is this a craving?!?

SPsFifthConyoIsTheBestConyo · 04/01/2014 17:44

I don't like either

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted · 04/01/2014 17:46

This could work, blue cheese and chocolate work together - try it you will be surprised.

Iloveonionchutney · 04/01/2014 17:47

I'm actually disappointed I don't have any Stilton or I would have tried this!

MrsBungle · 04/01/2014 17:48

Boak at the disgusting mouldy cheese infiltrating my mince pie!

Ullapull · 04/01/2014 17:49

I think that sounds amazing, why didn't I think of that! Surely lots of people have Stilton with sweet things like chutney or cranberry, mince pies are in a similar vein.

Sparklingbrook · 04/01/2014 17:49

Are you pregnant OP? maybe a lump of coal on the top?

There are no more mince pies in my local Sainsburys ... they are all about hot cross buns now - for the last week.

NearTheWindmill · 04/01/2014 17:56

Well Stilton and a sweet chutney or port, which is sweet, work. I have mince pies and Stilton and I might report back later.

Christmas cake and lancashire cheese do work. The sweet richness of the cake is good with the fresh salt of the cheese Smile.

Might even try the mince pie with the stilton and a glass of port - any excuse Grin.

Sparklingbrook · 04/01/2014 17:57

Creme Egg and a lump of Cathedral City. I could rustle that up?

indieakka · 04/01/2014 18:03

sparkling Grin at Cathedral City and Creme Egg - no not pregnant! But maybe can blame the new(ish)baby for odd cravings not having yet disappeared??

Bakewell Tart with a Dairylea Triangle? Grin

cardibach · 04/01/2014 18:32

I haven't tries this, but think the OP might be on to something. Cheese and fruit = goooood. So, good Stilton and good mince pie should = excellent. I have no stilton left, though, and only one mince pie so I'm not seeing it happening. Remind me next year, OP?

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 04/01/2014 18:37

For someone who can't bear ham and pineapple on a pizza or worse, pork and apple or raisins on a curry, this thread is a nightmare!
