Having endured enjoyed both films over Christmas with the kids, I think that Mary Poppins is a little bit lame. The songs and effects in Wizard of Oz piss all over supercafragalistic quote frankly.

Mary Poppins is a masterpiece and a beautiful film. On the rooftops of London...coo, what a sight!

Dick van Dyke'scaccent is much maligned, but he's wonderful in Mary Poppins. So are the children. So is Julie. So is the dad. It's all wonderful!

I definitely prefer MP to wizard of oz, but sound of music trumps both. I am also secretly fond of the king and I though- all those adorable children!

I love The King and I too. It's up there with The Sound of Music for me.

Wizard of Oz every time. Great songs, Somewhere over the rainbow sung by Judy Garland is perfect,just the right amount of light and dark and the bit where it goes from black and white to psychedelic colour is fantastic! No contest.

Zygons, Mark Kermode is on record as saying that Feed the Birds is one of THE great moments of cinema. You are certainly not alone :)

Feed The Birds always makes me sob,as does 'Let's Go Fly A Kite',for some reason.

Have just seen Saving Mr Banks, all about the making of Mary Poppins, and thought it was fantastic. Definitely recommend it to other MP fans.
