DH saw three people in town in onsies today. What is going on? I can only deduce that I'm getting old..

I don't see a problem with it.

Misspixietrix · 03/01/2014 01:38

I detest the creations. Don't get people venturing outside in them neither! School Runs Shop runs are all done by a fair few on onesies in this area.

ComposHat · 03/01/2014 01:42

If I ever set foot outside the flat in a onesie, I would take it as a sign I'd given up on myself.

SabraCadabra · 03/01/2014 01:48

I was in Asda just before Christmas, there was a bloke shopping in a Christmassy onesie. He was in his 50's, the onesie was about 3 sizes too small very figure hugging and he had a huge beer gut.
It was so funny everyone was looking at him sniggering, Ive seen some sights in there but this was the best :)

D0oinMeCleanin · 03/01/2014 01:50

Some of my sister's friends do this and the daughter of someone I work with.

They've explained it to me. They are not pyjama onesies. They look like pyjama onesies, they buy them from the nightwear section of Primark, but they are not sleepwear, so it's okay.

What they do is go to bed in their bedtime oneise, get up, get showered, put on clean underwear, apply their make up and do their hair and then put on their daytime onesie and ugg boots or outdoor slippers. T'is very trendy, but only for teens, it's just "weird" when grown ups do, or so they say Hmm

IneedAsockamnesty · 03/01/2014 19:34

Plenty of clothing options I don't like. I just choose not to wear them wouldn't knock anybody who did

happytalk13 · 03/01/2014 19:38

Meh, they're not hurting anyone. Wouldn't be my choice (I go one better and throw on sweats and a t-shirt) but each to their own.

Caitlin17 · 03/01/2014 19:58

I really don't care if this is judgemental but no matter how cold it is and even if it were only the cats who saw me I wouldn't be seen dead in one. Hideous garments.

I've never actually seen one in the flesh on teenagers or adults. Obviously on babies , they are called babygrows.

There was a CSI episode about a murder at a furry convention.

lljkk · 03/01/2014 20:01

DD's best mate has a unicorn onesie; he wore it to the school open evening.

mewmeow · 03/01/2014 20:08

Haha at most tramps take a pride in their appearance Confused

Who cares what anyone wheres anyway? It's a rejection of social norms and pressure and I'm all for that. It can also be seen as a rejection of consumerism, and protest at lack of opportunities. I think someone did a study called 'pyjama girls' in merseyside, I've come across it but not read it. Might be quite interesting.

southeastastra · 03/01/2014 20:11

i saw a (young) man in a pickachu onesie today, was slightly too small which added to the appeal.

knockedgymnast · 03/01/2014 21:01

southeast Grin Grin

honeybeeridiculous · 03/01/2014 21:18

My DD kept her new onesie on for all of Xmas day, it's pink with pugs all over it Hmm she then drove her mate home at midnight wearing it, she's 24 Grin

WelshMaenad · 03/01/2014 22:21

I saw someone jogging in one just before Xmas. Bloke. Big cream/ navy Scandi print wooly one , not even something that could be mistaken for a sport unitard.

Surely it would chafe?

Heartbrokenmum73 · 03/01/2014 22:24

Where do people get the Pikachu ones from though?

I tried to get DS one for Christmas and all over the internet it was adult sizes only - not a sniff of children's ones!

He loves his skulls one, but I know he would have loved the Pikachu one even more, the little Pokemon nut that he is.

MaidOfStars · 04/01/2014 00:40

Not each to their own, or better things to get worked up about. These are grown up people - adults - deciding to go about their business wearing what can only be described as baby clothes. It's not fashion, it's not's clever, it's fucking embarrassing.

stayanotherday · 04/01/2014 00:44

I like them.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 04/01/2014 00:56

I took my car for its MOT yesterday and drove past a man striding towards the local shops, in a camouflage onesie garment. I don't see many adults wearing them, a few teens, but I've yet to see anybody who is not a small child, looking good in them. I personally think they look ridiculous as outdoor wear. Horses for courses though, I don't care what anybody else wears as long as I never have to wear one.

HoneyDragon · 04/01/2014 00:57

This thread really makes me want to get a going out onesie.

YourMaNoBraBackOfMyCar · 04/01/2014 01:28

IIhave a black one with little white snowflakes on it. When I'm having a lazy day and need to nip to the corner shop I put my big parka over it, put my uggs on and just go about my business. No one has ever passed comment. I wouldnt care if they did. Its true. Wearing my onesie has made me give up caring what people who aren't minding their own business think. Best £25 I've spent. I'm wearing it now and my Give-a-shit-ometer is resting comfortably at zero. Its like wearing a big chill pill. To be honest the area I live in is so diverse I really can't remember the last time I had a "What the feckin feck is he/she wearing?!" moment.

mayorquimby · 04/01/2014 02:18

Saw a woman show up for her sentencing in court about a month ago in one, not a bother on her.
Tbh they're not an uncommon sight in the courts these days especially for people who've been picked up on warrants

5HundredUsernamesLater · 04/01/2014 03:00

It doesn't really bother me that others wear as long as I don't have to.
Think I ought to start wearing reading glasses though, just had to have a look at the link on ningabunnys post ( previous page) out of curiosity cos I thought it said Mucus Bag!

bragmatic · 04/01/2014 05:02

I think they look hideous, but I'm in the live and let live camp. But you'd have to drug me to the point of a coma to drag me out of the house in one.

bragmatic · 04/01/2014 05:03

While I'm here, I might as well say the same thing about jumpsuits.

Chottie · 04/01/2014 06:13

DP had a 'wear a Christmas sweater to work day' before Christmas. A middle aged man who should have known better turned up in a onesie. DP said it was gross.
