DH saw three people in town in onsies today. What is going on? I can only deduce that I'm getting old..

You obviously live in a more upmarket area than I do...

I own a shop dead opposite an Asda and see many a binner trot over the zebra crossing in full jamas and dressing gown.

If only I could see someone in a onesie.

Wallison · 02/01/2014 16:41

I always think those wearing them look like those people who dress up as animals and then have sex with each other (there's a name for this fetish - something furrys or something like that).

LastOneDancing · 02/01/2014 16:42

Unicorn onesie?! Shock

Anita, please tell me more - did it have a full on spiralling horn, or just little unicorn pictures on it?

IneedAsockamnesty · 02/01/2014 16:46

My teenagers wear them, they are easy to adapt for them, they can mostly dress themselves with them they are warm and comfy.

Can't see the point in getting judgy about clothes

Golferman · 02/01/2014 16:48

Onesies for anyone over five and spanx have to be the worst fashion disasters ever

Wallison · 02/01/2014 16:49

Here they are! And they are indeed called 'furries': news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/8355287.stm

AnitaManeater · 02/01/2014 16:49

Last - it was white with a purple sparkly horn and little blue wings on the back. Hood was up, not sure if DD was scared or jealous. We did try to get a pic but couldn't manage a clear one. Bristol Ikea about 2pm. I can't have been the only MNetter to have seen him!

BillyBanter · 02/01/2014 16:52

Oh, why not? It doesn't actually do anyone any harm.

This is a catsuit. I wear it outside
This is a onsie. It is basically the same as a catsuit (or whatever they are called this season) but warmer but when I wear it outside people start threads about it.

MrsBennetsEldest · 02/01/2014 16:52

Why wear something that makes your backside look slack and baggy. In the house.....fine. Outside and the wearer should be fined.

MrsFruitcake · 02/01/2014 16:53

Saw a teenage girl wearing one in the supermarket yesterday. It had good stains on it, which was a double fail as far as I'm concerned. It's laziness that makes people wear these outside of the home.

MrsFruitcake · 02/01/2014 16:54

*food

Wallison · 02/01/2014 16:54

It's not laziness - they're all going fucking dogging.

jenwa · 02/01/2014 16:54

Hahaha hilarious.

I don't own one. Would also not want to expose my top half when needing the loo and have to sit there shivering. I have a friend who has one and it has a flap down there that you can undo to go to the loo!!! Shock or maybe for other reasons too!!! Shock Shock
I saw a lad in one when we went away last week. It was in the forest and he had wellies, hat and scarf too! Confused

SapphireMoon · 02/01/2014 16:59

jenwa- were there lots of people all furry like in the woods.....

jenwa · 02/01/2014 17:03

Haha sapphiremoon. There were a few but no bears Wink

ariadneoliver · 02/01/2014 17:05

If this blog is to be believed some people wear them in Waitrose

Anyway onesies are so last year, it's all about the twinsie this year.

ApprenticeViper · 02/01/2014 17:09

I am the proud owner of two onesies (a twosie?), but I would never, ever dream of wearing either of them outdoors, even to go and put something in my recycling bins three strides from my front door.

They are soooooo warm and comfortable, and the only downside, as mentioned upthread, is having to strip off the top half to go to the loo.

I work not far from a supermarket in a less-than-naice area, yet I have never seen anyone in that supermarket wearing a onesie. There is a proliferation of pyjamas and dressing gowns though, and I don't understand it. How much effort does it take to throw on a pair of jeans or trackie bottoms and a hoody???

Am laughing at the image SapphireMoon has put in my head! Grin

Islenka · 02/01/2014 18:04

Meh.

I own a onesie althoigh I wouldn't ever go out to a shop with it!

CleanHankie · 02/01/2014 21:54

I work in a library and did enquire before Christmas if we could have a dress code for our borrowers, having seen someone wandering around the building in a onesie. Middle of a Sunday afternoon

Heartbrokenmum73 · 02/01/2014 21:57

Shock horror! People in onesies read books! Who'da thunk it? Why should wearing a onesie have anything to do with borrowing books at a library.

And where is this magical library that's open on a Sunday afternoon?

wonderstuff · 02/01/2014 22:17

Our town library is open 7 days a week, I think lots of city libraries are, it's called a discovery centre now though..

Major cringe!

lottieandmia · 02/01/2014 22:35

I can't stand onesies even for bed - I feel trapped in them!

perlona · 03/01/2014 00:43

Don't they know how ridiculous they look? I can't imagine how far outside normal society you'd have to be to think that acceptable. It's one thing to be lazy, stupid, lacking self respect and proud of having nothing to get dressed for, it's another to advertise that to the entire world.
