AIBU about Bedwetting?

DSD (9) has always wet the bed. I have been with OH for 4 yrs - his DC live with their mum.

We don't let her have black currant etc we get her up before we go to bed for a wee.

OH has bought an alarm which his ex wouldn't use because it went near her genital area Hmm.

OH has tried to discuss taking her to the GP with his ex (I have a good relationship with her) but she refuses to discuss it and has put DSD into nighttime nappies, and shouts and scolds her when she wets the bed - we do not.

We have all 6 of our DC for 1 wk and DSD has wet the bed 4 nights out of 5, which is not good for her self esteem and is practically difficult for us.

AIBU to be at my wits end with this and not know what to do?

Anyone have any good advice please?

Has anyone tried the "Pjama" pajama pants for bedwetting?

Op I feel your frustration. I have 3 full time bedwetters. I'm very matter of fact about it. You wet the bed, no big deal. Put your sheets in the laundry, open the window, wipe down the mattress and jump in the shower. Absolutely nothing works for ds (11 in two weeks). Alarms, meds, lifting, restrictions on drinks, caffeine, dark liquids etc. I'm resigned to the fact that we just have to manage it and it'll pass eventually. The one thing that bugged me was the whiff of ammonia particularly in d's room. No matter how quick you are with the stripping and cleaning it still whiffs occasionally. I replaced all mattresses with waterproof ones and ds now has wipe clean duvet and pillow set (when in a cover its just the same as a normal one except slightly rustly). I found night pants expensive and ineffective. Since the initial outlay I've saved quite a bit (was spending around £15 a week on night pants).

I Worried as ds has a school trip coming up in May and he shows no signs of stopping. :(

Poor DSD :( definitely worth getting checked out, but there's nothing wrong with dry nites.

Interesting about dark fluids but also I've heard that any squash can be bad, I once posted that my DS had wet the bed twice in one night (having literally never done it before) and it transpired that the difference was that he'd had squash at bedtime. It was orange but had aspartame in. It sneaks into all sorts of drinks now so might be worth checking.

Sorry if I'm repeating others, I've not read the whole thread.

Stina I want to try those but will probably only be able to use a couple of times a week due to the difficulties in laundering them. No way can we afford 2 pairs each per child. They are very dear. I do have a washable pair of pull ups that fitted until the age of 5. Dd wears them occasionally. I got them from Amazon years ago. They were no good for the volume ds produced though. :o
