My ds lost his comfort toy a few weeks ago in a busy shopping place. No one handed it in. Luckily I had a spare but ds was very upset about losing him.

I decided to have a look on ebay as he asked father Christmas for to bring his fluffy back. I was shocked to find loads and loads of different comforters selling at approximately £20 each. Over 4x the price they would have been in the shops.

Aibu to think it is horrid that people are trying to make so much money out of a child losing their toy?

Genius harold! Second hand cars as a side line Grin

Brian its a very OTT thread, lets be honest.

Caitlin17 · 29/12/2013 22:55

I thought from the title someone had found the toy but was holding it to ransom.

Brian its a very OTT thread, lets be honest.

Hmm, not sure. Think it fits into a mn average kinda thread. You post once, maybe twice, and then drift off.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 29/12/2013 22:58

Its a very OTT reaction from OP about people selling toys. maybe thats more accurate

BrianTheMole · 29/12/2013 23:03

Much of a muchness. Thats my last post. Too average. Bye.

Confused Such a weird thread!
janey223 · 29/12/2013 23:22

But people do buy up comforters to sell on eBay once the shops no longer sell them!!

I used to have someone on Facebook who does it and made a lot of money. I'm just thankful DS hasn't attached to anything other than me... Yet.

fanjofarrow · 29/12/2013 23:44

Poor OP, you big bunch of meanies. Grin

I do think your hormones may be ruling your head here though, OP!

Solongsucker · 30/12/2013 07:56

Supply and demand surely
You want something, they sell it. Win win!

BohemianGirl · 30/12/2013 09:49

OP = there is a great living to be made out of eBay - especially on plus size clothing. You buy it in Primark and sell it for twice/three times the price to places that are not represented by primark. Ikea brand is another good source of income from ebay.

pixiepotter · 30/12/2013 10:00

none oe my 5 have ever bothered with comforters thankfully. my friend who is a consultant in child psych says it is a sign of being very well adjusted !

Fakebook · 30/12/2013 10:03

Confused...what a weirdo.

pixiepotter · 30/12/2013 10:07

ha ha that would be a technical term fakebook ? :-)

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 30/12/2013 10:09

I'm going to don a hard hat here.

I've been one of those evil sellers...I sold 3 jellycat toys for £20, £20 and £32 (first 2 were BIN third was an auction)

They were gone within 18h of putting them up

they started at 99p but thought I'd try my luck Nd put a v high bin price which clearly worked-i didnt set out to make vast quantities of money but thdy were obviously sought after!

And do you know what? I dont feel the slightest bit guilty

BikeRunSki · 30/12/2013 10:10

Everything is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Which is why I paid £25 on eBay to replace a lost rag doll for dd, which cost about half that new, and why the house next door sold for about £60k less than the silly asking price, and took 2 years to sell!

ElleBellyBeeblebrox · 30/12/2013 10:48

I see your point OP, I have replaced a bear comforter from Asda for my dd, it would have been a couple of pound new. The buy it now price on EBay was fifteen quid. They must have known that someone would be willing to pay way over the odds because it was precious.

poopadoop · 30/12/2013 11:21

The OP is right but maybe worded her posts a little strangely - there are people specifically selling comforters as 'replacements' on ebay - www.pinterest.com/allaboutbea/little-tinkers-replacement-comforters/

justmyview · 30/12/2013 13:12

Supply & Demand

Joysmum · 30/12/2013 13:19

This has got to be the most ridiculous thread I've seen yet on MN.

People sell on old old toys, you see it all the time. I did it when my DD didn't want things anymore and I wanted the most I could get for it shock horror Shock
